Serenity at 75 Chaka's Cove

The location of the property is fantastic. Neat unit that had everything you needed.

Unfortunately the remote for the main gate access wasn't working so we had to replace the battery. There were some dirty forks and utensils that we had to clean before being able to use. Main bed needs replacing and there were holes in the sheet on the main bed.

The location was good - the flat is a short walk to a beach with some great tidal pools, and a 10 minute drive to shops and the main Ballito area. The flat had the basics, and a nice view. The agent, Elri, was friendly and responsive.

However, for a place costing over R2000 per night, it was disappointing. Overall, it was just fine, but very overpriced for what is offered, especially compared to other places of similar price in the area. The listing describes the flat as “spacious,” which is misleading, as the photos make the space appear larger than it is. The bedroom had poor ventilation, and the door to the balcony from the bedroom cannot be opened as there is no key (this is not mentioned in the listing). There was little sense of hospitality throughout the stay. While guests are advised to bring their own supplies and toiletries, only one roll of toilet paper was provided, with no spare, and no basic self-catering items were available. This, along with cleanliness and maintenance issues, made the experience feel transactional rather than welcoming. Some kitchenware was not properly cleaned, and the oven and stove knobs were greasy and grimy. A concealed kitchen plug did not work, which meant the washing machine could not be used and appliances had to be moved around simply to use the kettle and toaster. When we reported this, we were clear that it did not need to be fixed before we left, yet someone arrived unannounced the following morning, which felt intrusive. This was our one week off, and after travelling 6.5 hours to get there, we were really looking forward to having a space where we could relax and decompress. While we made the most of the trip and enjoyed the beach and surrounding area, the accommodation itself was disappointing and detracted from what should have been a restorative holiday. The flat was generally clean and had the basics, but it was not good value for money. I was glad to have booked at a discounted rate, as it would not have been worth the full price at all. Overall, the stay was acceptable but disappointing, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

Clean and safe accommodation. Perfect location. Close to the beach and restaurants!

Air-conditioning instead of fans would have been great!

The unit was lovely and had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The host was very attentive and helpful.

Unfortunately the bedroom door onto the patio no longer opened.
