"Absolute perfection"

10.0

Both Jo and Lester excelled in their ability to provide a high quality of short stay break. They are both lovely people and very genuine friendly people with the Lodge equipped to an extremely high standard. It is an amazing place, a slice of heaven and we fully expect to return.

Nothing at all. One of the best places we have stayed in.

"Wonderful in every way. Would recommend to anyone wishing to get away from it all."

10.0

The lodge was in a beautiful location. It was lovely and homely inside equipped with everything we could possibly need. The hosts were most friendly and we knew we could go to them should we have any issues (which we didn't). We were completely able to relax.

"Peaceful, comforting, an escape from the relentless consumer driven world."

8.0

The warm greeting form our hosts. Both the customer focused added value and the focus on local. A dog towel and dog bowl in case we'd forgoton ours. Fresh local milk, a posy of garden flowers, eggs from the chickens, fresh home baked cake and a quality loaf of bread awaited us. Watching the bats early evening, watching the runner ducks plus an absolute first, seeing donkeys walk past the kitchen window.

Towel rails or somewhere to hang more than one towel to dry rather than over the doors. Not keen on throws, but that could just be me. I always wonder what they are hiding, needless to say I didn't look! A small sturdy side table to put drinks on whilst watching TV. We don't like to use the floor in case our dog might knock the drink over. We used a dining chair with a tray on the seat as an impromptu side table which worked fine and meant we could relax.

"Gemma"

10.0

Beautiful rural location, fantastic accommodation with lots of well thought out detail. Hosts were very welcoming and available if needed. Loved the little touches provided throughout our stay, very clean and homely environment. Added bonus of donkey's outside the door, goats and horses to watch from our window and a well maintained decking area. Our little dog was made to feel very welcome, a safe enclosed space for him and a treats provided. Attention to detail was outstanding and I would highly recommend.

Nothing to dislike - perfection

"A piece of beauty on earth."

10.0

From the moment on site from parking to animal friends and wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. All the little extras that you don’t see often. Being introduced to the animals. especially the hens, who kindly provided our breakfast. There is no need for TV. just open the curtains for a piece of Hereford beauty.

Nothing not to like even for the most picky of travellers.

"Perfect country break, near Oldfield Forge"

10.0

Perfect location driving distance for Wye walks and attractions, we stayed here whilst having a day at Oldfield Forge - really easy commute. Hosts were lovely, approachable and couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and make our stay seamless. They were happy to chat and introduce us to their animals. Lovely homely extras like a hotel, fully stocked coffee machine and tea facilities and home made cake to welcome us. The lodge itself was setback and private, a peaceful chalet with 360⁰ views of nature, very quiet too. Every time we looked out the window we were greeted by the charming animals, or wildlife such as deer and hare, we hardly had the TV on as we were enjoying animal watching! Yet no animal disturbed our sleep. Less than 100 yards from the gated car park, a little walk down an incline to the chalet, accessible for a disabled member of the party who can't walk very far. The lodge is surrounded by a spacious wrap around porch with patio furniture lovely for dining al fresco. Modern homely decor inside and spacious and accessible bathroom with large shower (smashing water pressure) modern kitchen (and dishwasher!). There was central heating and a fire but the lodge was lovely and warm we never used it (we stayed in May). The hosts knew four were coming so pulled out and set up the sofa bed ready for us (two sharing each bed), and the sofa bed didn't encroach on our dining space or lounge area seating. It was perfect! Really exceeded our expectations. In case we had a dog with us they even provided water and food bowls, a dog towel and a little mix of dog treats any dog would have been welcomed just as much as the human guests! The chalet is fenced in with a gate so dogs (and even small children) could wander the porch freely without "escaping" to the farm areas. We loved our stay and if life allows us we will definitely return, would recommend! Thank you to Jo and Lester our hosts, ten out of ten!
