The Owl Cave Hotel

For a basic hotel cave room, this place will do. The staff at reception and in the restaurant did their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Goreme, the first 2 in another cave hotel and the second 2 here. We just wanted to try a couple places, which we came to regret. The difference between the two hotels was striking, with the Owl Cave being the cause of our regrets. To start with, to enter Owl Cave you walk past a dilapidated property with a toilet out front, and across from the entrance is a dusty old cafe that didn’t seem to be open. When we entered our Deluxe King Suite we noticed an unpleasant odor and found an air freshener near the door and another in the bathroom, both of which no longer worked. There were very few furnishings, unless one should consider the four rusty nails hammered into the wall between an odd knob and a scary hook. When we got into bed we soon realized that it was two twin beds joined together. In the bathroom the shower is in the tub and seems to be missing the glass part of the enclosure. There is a terrace just opposite the entrance to the room but it is shared; at 11:30 I had to call the manager to ask him to request a noisy group on the terrace to quiet down. We selected Owl because of the excellent reviews, though several of the reviews mentioned the points I raised above.

The staff were amazing during our entire stay. Their helpfulness and kindness was a big reason why our trip was so great. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is very close to shopping and eateries and the staff were more than happy to assist with questions on where to go around town.

The only complaint I have is the room was too hot. There wasn't a heater or A/C so the temperature couldn't be adjusted, but they did have a fan which help a lot.

Stayed two nights in this lovely little hotel. I was very well taken care of by Halide, Ugur, and Umit. Ugur is the chef, and he makes the nicest breakfast. Perfect place to watch the sunset or the balloons, if you're not riding in one. Also, it's just a 5 minutes walk to the viewpoint. Hope to be back! A tip! Just take the dolmus bus from the airport, and they will drop you off at the hotel.

Everything was great! You can see the balloons from the Terrasse. The guys from the receipt are so welcoming, and the cook Ugur made an excellent breakfast!
