Stylish Chic Retreat At Lafayette Lofts 1 Bedroom Apts by RedAwning

The day before I was supposed to check in, the hosting company reached out to me to let me know that the room I had booked was going to be unavailable due to some type of "surprise maintenance". They sent me pictures of an alternative room that they were offering instead. The pictures were not great, but I didn't have a choice since there was nothing in the immediate area available due to the many events in Detroit that weekend. When I got there I learned that the photos didn't do the room justice, it was significantly worse than pictured. There were 20+ fly traps hanging from the ceiling, full of flies. There were paint chips in the bathtub. The furniture was beat up. It felt like an apartment with a slumlord, not at all as advertised. The hosting company credited me less than 10% back as a "courtesy" for staying in a room that was less than half as nice as the room I had booked. I saw no signs of any type of maintenance on the previously booked room, which tells me that they more than likely double booked or crammed in another booking for the busy weekend. Outside of this particular hosting company (Red Awning) and this particular room, Detroit is a wonderful city and is worth a visit. The stay was within walking distance to the city and the People Mover, which you will be frequenting since the stay itself does not encourage you to spend any extra time there.

Once into the unit it was large, comforable and tidy. Very cool unit inside an old antique building.
