It was my 70th reservation on booking and my worst experience by far. Apartment equipment very limited, store broken, 1 chair missing (replaced and partially fixed within 48hours but it is not serious not to fix it before the arrival of guests). Very noisy (restaurant with loud music until late night) and dirty environment with homeless drunk people sleeping in the residence balcony in front of the window of one of the bedrooms. On top heavy construction work on the first floor (the apartment is at the 2nd floor) from 8 am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday with loud machinery and hitting noises, we couldn't stay in the apartment during the day and had to spend our days outside, while the purpose on my 9 days stay was also to rest. It is not honest to have rent this apartment in those conditions at the normal rate, and without any surprise with such mindset rental agency refused to compensate.

"Comfortable clean accommodation close to beach."

Location to beach. Easy to navigate to.

Noisy bar rear of car park. Music till 3 am. Car parking not guaranteed if car moved. Neighboring shop owners parked and had to ask them to move car. Very noisy washing machine which would not work on ocassion Lack of worksurfaces. Lack if mirrors Clock Shortage of good quality towels

I wish I could give this vacation rental zero stars. Our five-night stay in Fort Lauderdale was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were ecstatic to stay at the Purple Pelican again as we had a wonderful vacation at this property in May of 2023. However, by the fourth night, our optimism was shattered when we discovered that a homeless couple had come up the stairs to the building, sleeping with the linens and towels that this property uses for new guests when they check in. It was utterly disgusting and made us question the security of the property.

To make matters worse, we had to call the police to escort the trespassers off the property. The police stated “I do not understand why both staircases are not gated for renters only”. Beware that there are trespassers on the steps of the building daily with management's response stating, “A vagrant from being outside the building every once in a while in a downtown area, this happens from time to time even at nice hotels”. Not exactly the relaxing vacation most people have in mind. But the horror didn't end there. Not a single smoke detector was functional in the entire rental property, a blatant violation of safety standards within the city of Fort Lauderdale. It's beyond comprehension how a property management company could neglect such a basic necessity, considering this is on their listing. As if the appalling conditions weren't enough, the real frustration came after our stay. Despite numerous attempts to communicate with the property management company to address our grievances and seek a resolution, they offered us a free one-night stay to come back. Why would we even consider returning to a place where we didn't feel safe, let alone receive such inadequate treatment from the management? Their lack of accountability and customer service is utterly appalling especially after ignoring my message for two days and then telling me they will no longer have contact with me regarding this issue. Luckily, Booking.com provided exceptional customer service as they were understanding of our situation and took matters very seriously. Save yourself the headache and avoid this nightmare of a rental property at all costs. It's not worth the stress, the safety risks, or the complete lack of professionalism from the management team. A total disgrace.

Location was perfect, just a few meters from the beach.

We were a group of 5, as established in the reservation, but there was only 4 sets of towels, and didn’t give us the extra one even we asked for them.

Location and size of property

Cleanliness was lacking. I don't think the top of refrigerator was ever cleaned. The patio needed a good scrubbing and wash down. Hands were black after leaning against railing. Ended up cleaning it ourself. Also would be helpful if a mop or swifter was left in room to help clean up.

"Perfect Location"

The location cannot be beat!!! I traveled with my husband, 15yo son and his friend! Food, drinks, and walkability was stellar! I don’t want to say this as it’s peak spring break, but it certainly could’ve been a bit cleaner considering our day of check out and running behind the woman was already in the apartment while we were finishing packing. We had to leave items behind because it was uncomfortable. I hope the chairs and boogie boards are repurposed as that was an expense. Also, I like to keep things clean and the vacuum didn’t pick anything up and no swiffers to help. Only two towels per bathroom and mats and shower curtains were dirty. Beach towels had holes. I had to grab a Lysol cleaner from the storage outside to wipe everything down. No kitchen towels to dry off kitchen wear/utensils used. There were also bottles under the bed and behind our dresser which was alarming seeing that the cleaning lady literally walked in on a mission to kick us out at 11:00 01seconds… I’d give them another shot certainly, but I’d hope amenities would be a little better inside.

"Great location, beautiful weather and the unit was nice and clean."

Loved the location!

When we arrived the unit was 52 degrees. We had only 1 extra blanket. We had 5 guests but only 4 bath towels. We needed an air mattress so one of us did not have to climb on to the top bunk which was requested for $30. When we phoned the management group upon arrival regarding the air conditioning we were told to send a video and the maintenance person would be notified. 2 days into the stay our A/C would not kick on at all, so we ran a fan. Did not hear a thing from maintenance. We were told that 4 towels are standard so we used our beach towels. Our air mattress was delivered 2 days into the stay without a pump. We aired it with a blow dryer and it only held air for a few hours. The parking area and stair wells were littered with trash that remained all week.
