"Disappointed facilities, but lovely staff and good food"

4.0

The food in the hotel was amazing, chef accommodate requests and the staff were really friendly. Cottage had real potential to be good but few small things and 1 big spoiled the trip

To start mouldy shower, bugs in the bath tub and rolley tab buts on the floor, not good when you have a 2 year old and 3 year old. Hot tub didn't work and they new this before our stay as we were informed the guy had ordered the new parts. No BBQ as described. When I arrived to get the keys, a worker was in the house chilling on the sofa in work clothes and sad sorry didn't know any one was coming to stay here. Main reason we booked was for the hot tub and views.

"Has potential, but poorly maintained in areas"

4.0

From start to finish: 4pm Check in is the latest I've ever checked in, £30 an hour for earlier check in or late check out is absurd. Online check in system poor, filled the form in multiple times but did not work and needed to call up for the check in instructions to be sent. Nice little location for the hotel and adjoining cottages. Not made aware of the roadworks in court yard, so could not park at the cottage or kids could not play outside, this was not specified till the following morning after arrival via text. Huge 4 bed cottage was clean for us with plenty of space and so lovely and warm during the colder months, the Aga cooker is a fun to cook with if you can figure it out and warms the house too. But parts of it were just tired and old such as: Freezer did not work, was not made aware so my frozen food items for kids spoiled. I notified the hotel staff following morning after realising, they told me they know and I should have been told this, but wasn't. They did place a replacement box freezer in the dining room. Too little too late as food was already spoiled. The mattresses on the beds must be at least 15 years old, springs sticking out and one side caved in, you could feel the bed base through the mattress. I informed hotel staff and they said they replaced it. The following night the other side of this "new" mattress was completely collapsed and my partner had to sleep in alternate room. The mattress in the single room also collapsed but we gave up hope by this point. The hot tub was a waste of time, as mentioned in other reviews the lights don't work on it, also there was a photo of it with a veranda providing a roof over it, this is simply not true as I was told the wind blew it away 2 years ago. So if you come in the winter/spring like I did, you won't really use in the pitch black or when the weather is wet.

"It was a terrible experience, with poor customer service and a meager offer of compensation following considerable disru"

1.0

A lovely house, in nice grounds.

The house has been poorly finished throughout, with broken taps, shower fixings, a leaking dishwasher and loose door handles throughout. The carpet was also badly stained, we had issues with lights tripping, the water pressure failed repeatedly and this meant the heating went off. We had no running water or toilet flushing for most of our two night stay, and the owners had to send a maintenance engineer twice, once at 11.30pm to refill the water system. They advised it was a site-wide issue with water pressure and boiler problems in multiple properties. It has so much potential but the decoration and final fixings have clearly been rushed.

"I was concerned by the correspondence from everyone. I didn’t know who I was dealing with at times."

8.0

Location, cottage was roomy and warm, quite well equipped.clean overall. Views lovely from back of property.Arga was wonderful.

Lack of instruction information folder. No instructions for TV. Lighting poor in the main living room. Fire place disappointed as no grate in the fire. Few logs and firefighters left for use. Cold in that area. Seating in main living area could be more comfortable. Outside area looked very tired, needed some tlc, lots of leaves etc, general tidiness was lacking. The hot tub disappointing - no lights in it, only one setting for the jets. BBQ looked awful, obviously out of season, why not remove it or cover it? This property could be much improved if a few tweaks were made. Main bathroom cistern handle on toilet needs attention, hot tap in hand basin turns the opposite way. Bulbs x 2 blown in the main living area.no tv remote in one bedroom, another remote only had one battery in. TV’s were not used in bedrooms therefore we didn’t report this to reception.

"Overall a lovely cottage in a beautiful location"

9.0

Beautiful cottage, very roomy and lovely bedrooms

We checked in at 4pm which we think is a little late for a 2-night stay. 2pm would have been better without an extra charge . We were very disappointed to find the hot tub wasn't hot, so unable to use until 8.45 that night.

"Spacious for us and enjoyed our stay"

Nice place, hotel coffee shop was a bonus

Proximity of other cottages and hotel not made clear in description, so not ‘remote’ in itself. A little surprised on arrival but was ok, we stayed 4 nights and everyone was respectful of each other. Was not spot on with cleanliness..
