"Very well appointed cottage, we enjoyed our short break. On balance, overpriced, unlikely to return."

8.0

The “upside down living” cottage is very well appointed and maintained. The kitchen is very good, with proper knives (not the bendy rubbish in many rentals). The appliances worked (although instruction manuals would be helpful for the oven functions). The upstairs living area is comfortable and enhanced by window seats to admire the lovely view. The main bedroom bed is comfortable and uses decent linens. Although obviously factored into the rental price it was lovely to find a proper sourdough loaf, farm milk, butter, tea, coffee and a Bara Brith already provisioned on our arrival (which we also didn’t see advertised or we wouldn’t have done our shopping en-route!) The Internet connectivity and 4G are excellent, which isn’t always the case in this area.

The cottage is right on the road. Whilst this is a rural area, there was still regular traffic passing such as a remarkably frequent bus service and innumerable tractors as well as regular cars. For us, this only meant less tranquility than we hoped. For anyone with dogs (or young children) it would be horrible. The parking situation is not ideal; there is an area for one car to pull-in in front of the property but it is on a bend and a very tight fit for our F-Pace. This is not completely clear in the description; mention is made of “the garage” which impressed us when booking but we only discovered at short notice that it is inaccessible to guests. The parking description is only mentioned in the “guests Q&A” in the listing and only communicated at a late stage, like the unavailability of the garage. Also, maybe because of lack of use prior to arrival or another problem, the drain smell in the main bathroom when we arrived was appalling and took time to dissipate.

"Fantastic location, thoughtful touches in cottage and well equipped"

Beautiful location, lovely views and nice touches included. Cottage has everything you need and is really well equipped.

Downstairs did smell strongly of damp.

We had a lovely three nights here with our 5 month old. The view is spectacular and the big windows meant we could enjoy it even on a rainy day. We loved how easy it was to join the coast path and the beautiful little beach. You could tell it was someone’s home with little personal touches, all very comfortable, and a generous welcome basket of local treats that kept us going for our first evening.
