Fresh studio apartment, a short walk from Bryggen

Everything was well arranged and clearly planned out. The feeling was that everything was quite new. There is a local shop close by where you can buy whatever you need.

The bed is too high for anybody with hip problems. The chairs are fine for sitting at the table for a meal but then they become quite uncomfortable. Sitting on the bed to relax is not an option as the mattress is lower then the rim of the bed and that does not make sitting on it comfortable. Some easy chairs or different chairs would improve comfort greatly. A short walk from Bryggen? This may apply to a young and fit person or to the way from the location down into town. Luckily we discovered bus Number 10 early on. Not everybody manages the hills of Bergen with ease. The fact that building work was going on excuses some of the dirt in the hallway, but it was not cleaned once in the 6 days we were there. Also, the fridge clearly held crumbs from a previous occupant. That could easily have been dealt with.

Amazing location (e.g., ended up walking up Fløyen, no need for the funicular!). Really comfortable and clean inside. Compact and cozy without feeling claustrophobic.

Like almost everywhere in Europe, didn’t do so well on the first day when it was hot outside.

If one can see beyond the shock and disgust of being badly bitten by bloodsucking insects in one's sleep, the apartment itself is well-located. Host communication was prompt, with plenty of useful information  provided. The space is warm and comfortable, with a well-provisioned cooking area. Because of its small size, it does not have a comfortable chair or any storage space (other than for coats and shoes), and so is better suited for a short stay. The space was acceptable for 2, but definitely not for 3.

The apartment is unsuitable for people with mobility issues or heavy luggage. It is situated on the third floor, and is accessible only by 4 flights of stairs. - As regards the bed bug infestation, the host said the apartment would be fumigated, and offered an immediate partial refund. Ten days later, I had to  instigate the refund; the success of the bed bug eradication will hopefully be evidenced in later reviews.
