2 Apse Castle Cottages Charming 16th-Century Cottage in Shanklin - Dog-Friendly, Parking, Near Beach Sleeps 5

Kitchen was well stocked everything you needed was there. Location was very good.

7th-10th Sept 2025. Looks nice and cosy in the pictures but sadly not. Booked this as a 2 bathroom property as advertised by booking.com for 3 adults, but it has only one bathroom downstairs & a toilet/sink upstairs. Rubbish by entrance to conservatory & garden space should have been cleared. Downstairs has really bad damp & smells awful especially the lounge to point furniture felt damp to sit on. Previous guests have mentioned the damp in the guest book but obviously nothing has been done. Cobwebs (not recent ones) on the conservatory brick wall & lights which should have been brushed down etc. Twin beds were squeaky/noisy/uncomfortable. The only TV in lounge pixelates most of the time. Sofas too small to relax on & put feet up to watch TV, if it worked well. Only place to really relax was the bed. Mould on bathroom sealant. Could do with an outside light as no street lighting so very dark when you return in the evening. Shame about these issues as it could be a lovely cottage. We won't be returning.

Coffee plunger and fresh coffee. Comfortable double bed. Clean. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely conservatory. Cosy. Easy to get in. Very quiet location.

Shower a bit weak and leaky tap in bath. Noisy beds in the twin room and mattresses a bit uncomfortable.

Lovely cottage, great location. Everything was super clean and the living space was cosy.

The electric shower was unusable due to water streaming out of the casing, luckily there was a shower attachment on the taps but we had to switch on the hot water boost to use it, which took a while to heat up.
