North Devon seaside cottage with log burner

The bed was very comfy.

The location was good but because it’s a tourist area it was extremely busy with people and dogs. People always outside the cottage chatting and hanging about so did not feel it was as quiet as I would like. The garden was untidy and not a pleasant place to sit as the chairs were mucky and wet, and the constant flow of people so early in the season outside meant it was as relaxing as I would have liked. The rocky beach is a bit treacherous with all the rocks needing to navigate to reach a small sandy part. Again always busy. This is just my preference some people like lots of people around. I also had a problem with the shower which meant I could not use it. However this was not something that could have been foreseen.

Quiet,well equipped, clean and comfortable

The seats of the chairs at the table we're a bit old and slightly uncomfortable but that seems a trifle picky as we loved our stay

The location was special, in a quiet village with no through traffic,, on the coastal path and with access to the beach, rare on this stretch of coast. The property had an interesting history. Though small, it was thoughtfully equipped to a high standard. It had opening windows and thick stone walls, appreciated in a hot spell. (At other times of year the log burner would be an asset and it would be cosy.) The generous late cancellation provision enabled us to go ahead with our stay when a period of fuel uncertainty would have prompted us to cancel had earlier payment been required. Helpful instructions and recommendations for local amenities so we were able to make the most of our short stay.

The staircase was tricky, comfortable going up, less so coming down. There was no freezer or ice box, a consideration in hot weather. A difficult choice in a small kitchen thoughtfully equipped, with priority given to a washing machine and tumble dryer. No mobile phone signal or tv, but good internet so WiFi calling and live streaming made these unnecessary. Unfamiliar (for Booking.com) booking and invoicing procedures

For the price we had 2 days the shower didnt work. . One of those days you could not Regulate the temperature. It was freezing or so hot it would scold. So I washed in the sink. The last morning it wouldn't work at all. Also really needs some better cooking utensils. The owner was lovely and tried to help.

The location is brilliant. If you are preparing for hiking with family, it is the right place for you. If you like a quite place to watch the sea goes up and down, it is the right place for you. This cosy cottage is everything you need. We will come back.

The ultimate in a cosy, quirky stay. So many details provided for (the scones were an amazing touch!). Loved our stay and would come again.

very cosy with the log burner on and very warm. Quirky beds for the kids which they loved and walling asleep to the waterfall each night was great
