Enchanting 1 Bedroom Home with Full Kitchen

We had an amazing time at Hollyhock Lodge! The place is beautifully decorated with lots of thoughtful touches. It felt cozy yet spacious for the two of us. The facilities are great. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the shower was fantastic! We loved spending time in the garden, especially in the mornings when it was sunny and peaceful. There’s a lovely walk in to Saffron Walden, we had brunch at the Tipi Cafe and a look around the shops. I loved that there are lots of leaflets for the surrounding area that the hosts have collected for their guests. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

The bed being close to the wall was a little bit awkward, having lamps near the bed would have been good.

Just what I wanted, and more importantly, what I needed. A few days days to focus the mind, it was a perfect place to allow that to happen.

The property is super cosy and has everything you need in a genius compact layout.

Beautiful, cozy cottage in pristine condition with lots of effort made to create a warm and historically characterful interior. Perfect for a winter stay, but surrounded by a decent bit of private garden with outdoor dining space through French doors off the kitchen so I'm guessing it's perfect for a summer stay too. Location is great - a lovely walk across the Common into the historic town centre of Saffron Walden. I would highly recommend this for solo travellers or couples wanting to be right near the town, but feel a bit hidden away.

Not being able to stay longer!

Amazing place, so peaceful and relaxing. The shower and bed was great. I can't wait to come back again! Thankyou.

Good quality decoration and equipment, imaginatively and creatively chosen and displayed. Everything clearly very recently done. Nice to have a garden space, I expect this will develop as the property becomes established. The big downside for us will hopefully be rectified once the hosts realise the issue - but we arrived around 8.30 on a February evening and it was very chilly. The heating in the bedroom/lounge area was not on, turning up the thermostat as instructed has no effect, no obvious things to try e.g. no fuse switch had flipped. No response at all from ringing (left voicemail) and texting the host’s number. Eventually realised we couldn’t override or change the timer do put the master switch by fuse box onto boost, which needed re-doing after an hour or so. Next day we put it on continuous, turning thermostat down very low when we were out. Didn’t feel comfortable fiddling with an unknown heating system but didn’t know what else to do. Made a somewhat disappointing start to our stay which has coloured our overall impression of what, in many ways, has been a pleasing creative and original letting.

Good location only a short walk across the green to the town centre and an off street parking space on the shared front drive.
