Gili Gede is a wonder that I hope won’t get crowded anytime soon. The reef in front of the accommodation is full of life. The rooms are perfect, with every comfort and thoughtful detail you might need—definitely some of the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed in. But above all, I want to highlight the staff’s attention, which alone makes this place worth visiting. A huge thank you to Oji and Adi for being so kind, attentive, and great at their job. By the way, the Indonesian food they serve is absolutely delicious.

The downside of this accommodation is the space—it feels claustrophobic. There are five rooms (one of them a family room), plus the dive center, plus people constantly coming and going… The space is extremely small to host so many people. There aren’t enough hammocks available for everyone (and they’re quite uncomfortable, by the way), and there’s very little shade. If it hadn’t been for this, we definitely would have stayed longer. But having other people just 30 centimeters away all day in hammocks right next to yours… really takes away any sense of privacy—especially when neighboring accommodations have huge plots of land.

La calma e la tranquillità che pervade l'intera isola; la camera fronte mare offre risvegli con luce meravigliosa. Il ristorante/bar è sempre aperto, a qualsiasi orario, ed i ragazzi che lo gestiscono sono simpatici (tutti molto giovani). Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. La possibilità di fare escursioni per snorkeling e immersioni con l'associazione PADI.

In camera entrano continuamente formiche, ragni e altri insetti (sopratutto formiche) perché sotto la porta c'è una fessura. I ragazzi spruzzano prontamente Baygon se lo fai notare, ma occorrerebbe un rimedio strutturale e più duraturo. Manca uno spazio apposito e comodo per poggiare le valige dentro la camera. Costo dell'escursione per snorkrling sulle 4 isole Gili è un pochino troppo elevato per il costo standard indonesiano (850.000 Rp), ma lo consiglio. L'isola è ancora poco assaltata dai turisto, fortunatamente, ma le strutture che ci sono, "ricche" e per i turisti, stridono con il resto dell'isola, ancora molto povero, quasi un insulto ai locali che comunque sono straordinari ed accolgono i turisti sempre con sorrisi e saluti. Scene di vita straordinarie.
