St Marys Light house, Caravan Rentals

The Caravan was big enough and the beds were very comfortable. The shower was good. We all enjoyed Whitley Bay and the surrounding areas. The breakfast on the site was good.

Bit disappointed when we arrived as there was only one shower room with toilet and a cloakroom (toilet only), but the description stated two bathrooms, would be more accurate to state 1½ bathrooms? Also, an unpleasant smell when we arrived, we found it was coming from the Microwave and the drain on the sink drainer. We did not cook but on checking the oven the oven tray still had grease in it, housekeeper should be checking these things. There was enough towels & bedding, but the towels felt damp, and some beds poorly made up. Later, we found that we had no gas, so no hot water, no cooking facilities and the boiler flashing “reset”!! Eventually we had gas connection by the end of the second day. Not sure if an Automatic Changeover regulator was installed or if both gas cylinders had just run out? Only other issue was not enough glasses & dishes for a caravan that sleeps 8 – we only had 2 wine glasses, 2 tumblers & 4 breakfast glasses, there was not a full set of dinnerware, and some were chipped, enough cutlery but no bottle opener or wine opener? In two of the bedrooms only one coat hanger in each & the rail lying at bottom of one wardrobe which we sorted. You need more coat hangers! The owner should do an inventory of the kitchenware & wardrobes! Would have made such a difference if attention were paid to these small details. Apart from that we did not let this spoil our holiday. Did not use any of the site facilities except breakfast, so cannot comment on the swimming pool/restaurant.

Caravan was lovely. But u needed passes to get into anything and they were £9 each. We were only there for three nights so didn't bother, but it meant we couldn't even get into the restaurant/bar.

While waiting to be seen in reception the people before me knew one of the staff, and were given their passes for free. Very annoying! Also we booked privately, not through the holiday park, and one of the staff quite cheekily asked me in front of other guests how much I had paid!

Very clean and tidy easy to get round nice coastal walks close by as well

All was fine ,it was just what we needed

Good location, close to st Mary’s lighthouse , beach & Spanish city , caravan was clean and tidy

Caravan was a little tired , strange smell when we first arrived . It was next to the main rd so traffic noise could be loud at times . Dishes were chipped , no outside sitting area ..

Lovely caravan. Beds were comfy. Relatively clean (but not 100%)

Cutlery, very sparingly, one adult had to use small plastic knife and fork. Tableware/cutlery were not a set, no grater or colander (so our spag bol was not the best) Had to wipe the plates/cutlery etc before use as they were dusty.

Loved that it was soo close to the sea
