Great location: just a short walk from Alameda De Hércules, with easy access to the city centre. Peaceful but lively area: the street felt safe and quiet, yet close to shops, cafés, and bars that came alive in the evenings. Spacious apartment: plenty of room for a family, with generous storage space. Nicely decorated rooms: homely feel and comfortable layout. High-speed Wi-Fi: reliable connection, useful for both work and keeping children entertained. Air conditioning: available in some rooms, which was much appreciated in the summer heat. Small but practical kitchen: included fridge, cooker, hob, and cupboards – handy for preparing simple meals. Rooftop terrace: a welcome addition with two sun loungers and a small plunge pool (approx. 7ft x 5ft). The children loved cooling off there, and it was a nice place to relax in the evenings.

Although the cleaner was still cleaning when we arrived, the apartment was dirty in places (used sanitary products in the main bedroom, mould in the shower room, leftover food in the kitchen, and damp washing in the machine). The apartment smelt stale, and the bathroom pipes gave off a sewage smell that spread through the property. Considerable number of dead insects found on surfaces. Shower room requires maintenance: the roof is leaking and the space is generally tired. The smell leading up to the roof terrace is unpleasant. The sun loungers are broken and the rooftop area requires attention. Three sets of steep stairs lead up to the apartment, plus another set to the roof terrace – unsuitable for guests with mobility issues. Both bedrooms had double beds instead of singles, making sleeping arrangements awkward. I ended up staying on the sofa for the week. One bedroom had an air conditioning unit but no remote control, so it couldn’t be used – very uncomfortable in August heat. Electrical fault: using the hob and oven together cut the power, making cooking difficult. Kitchen lacked some basic cooking equipment, especially for oven use. Fridge: Alarm beeping would go off in the night randomly which woke me up several times, I was pretty tired by the end of the week. There is a cannabis café two doors away, which is quite noticeable when using the terrace or pool. This wasn’t personally an issue for me, but it is surprising that it hasn’t been mentioned in other reviews, as not all guests may wish to smell cannabis during their stay.

Apartment was very unkept and not maintained and was quite filthy too. Pizza left in the fridge from other people…

The location was great for our needs

I was very disappointed with the lack of response from the host during our stay (via all platforms) having tried to make them aware of issues following a huge rain downpour of rain on the Sunday we arrived, resulting in water running from the ceiling, (creating puddles of water in the bathroom), wet walls and excessive condensation on the windows and sills. Attempting to ease the situation, we put the heating on to help dry the apartment and opened windows to air, as it smelt damp. This subsequently attracted numerous mosquitoes into the bedrooms, resulting in us both being bitten multiple times meaning our stay in this apartment was not a pleasurable one!! We also struggled with the entry doors, needing to put our body weight against them to gain access every time we returned to the apartment. When we first arrived, we didn’t think we were able to access the building until we took this extreme action. Despite several attempts to contact the owners, the only response we received directly (and via booking.com on our reurn was as follows which seems to me like an automated response: We were attentive to the guest at all times. The space, the location. Generally this would be a lovely apartment if it was properly maintained.

The leaking roof, mosquitos because of the damp, shower head was broken, door to the terrace needs attention.
