Oogpa House - Boutique Homestay

Oogpa House is an amazing combination of the comforts of a Homestay with the luxury of a top hotel - details like incredible bed linen, squeaky clean bathrooms, balcony to gaze at the mountains! Tashi and Puntsok are so welcoming and helpful in orienting a first-timer in Ladakh like me - organising everything to make my trip go smoothly - permits, oxygen - and providing the perfect oasis of calm to overcome acclimatisation and jet lag. Tashi’s cooking is out of this world straight from her amazing garden. Delicious breakfast on the roof facing the Himalayas is the best breakfast I’ve ever had in years of travels. Oogpa House became my home in Ladakh where I would come back to each time before the next adventure. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

What a wonderful introduction to Ladakh from Tashi and Puntsok. Beautiful accommodation and delicious home cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. This was the perfect place to acclimatise with incredible views and Tashi went above and beyond. They were so friendly, it was like staying with friends. I highly recommend Oogpa House for a fantastic introduction to Ladakh. Thank you so much, we will remember it forever!

Loved it all

Oogpa house is well located. The rooms have a nice view of the Stok mountain ranges. It is about 15 mins drive out of main Leh market and thus in a quite peaceful area. The rooms are clean and so are the linens and towels provided. Tashi and Phuntok the residents of the house will take great care to make you feel at home. Tashi makes a delicious Khambir. The breakfast and dinner were both nice. We strongly recommend to stay here in if you are looking for a more peaceful stay from the hustle and bustle of Leh city.

An excellent homestay. One could not ask for more. Great location and view, with a stream flowing nearby. A beautiful kitchen garden and colourful flowers. The home itself modern, clean, open and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms perfect. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. The food was divine. And the price is so reasonable.

The property is very tastefully decorated. It’s very clean and well managed the his Tashi, her sister & her son Phuntsog were very welcoming and helpful catering into our every need. Tashi who is an excellent cook served a delicious dinner and breakfast.

Since were acclimatizing before our long bike ride across eastern Ladakh, we had all our meals there. Phuntsok's masala omelettes and his lattes/cappuccinos are a great way to start your day (along with some stimulating conversation about Leh, Ladakh, and its people as well as the food). For Lunch and Dinner, Phuntsok's mom Tashi cooked us different kinds of local cuisine from Thukpas to the ladakhi bread Khambir with some of the most delicious Veg and non-veg main courses. I remember the Chhutagi with the mutton and vegetable soup the most, as I had polished it off in no time. They also grow their own food like Tomatoes etc in their own Organic garden. Outside of the food, the rooms are quite big in size and spotlessly clean, some rooms also get balconies where you can sit and have a cup coffee in the morning or just relax in the evening. Bathrooms are clean and well-maintained.

This is not something that I didn't like, but more of a nitpick that their place is a bit away from the main Leh City and Market, so you need to travel around 6km to the city or market. But if you are there in Leh for a relaxing trip away from the cities/markets and have access to transport (like us) then I would recommend Oogpa wholeheartedly.

Everything was great, from the room to breakfast and the family itself.

There where nothing not to like...

I had a lovely stay at Oogpa Homestay, conveniently located in Saboo village, about 15 minutes from Leh airport and the Leh market. The rooms are clean and spacious, equipped with all the necessary amenities. The family that runs the place is incredibly warm, generous, and helpful, making my stay even more special! The delicious Ladakhi dishes that they prepare are truly exceptional. The icing on the cake was meeting a wonderful group of folks from Canada who were also staying at Oogpa around the same time as I was.
