The loft at Mayfield, Harrogate

All very fresh and clean. Looked newly renovated. Brilliant for a couple. Seemed well equipped. Easy walking distance from the station, town centre and major attractions. Quiet area. The roof garden is small but real, and at its best during the afternoon as the sun swings westward.

Instructions for waste and recycling could have been clearer. Dish towels were maybe missing. There’s two flights of stairs and these are quite narrow. Not a problem for us, but worth bearing in mind. ‘Loft’ gives a clue!

They left us a banner for our anniversary which was the only nice thing about our whole experience

Where to begin. The key wasn’t in the lock box and after calling the owner he said his ex wife had stolen the key and he needs to come urgently to change the locks. A friend of his went and got us the spare key. HE NEVER CAME TO CHANGE THE LOCKS. The whole time we felt so unsafe thinking that something was going to happen with how he made his ex wife sound so worrying. Then ever walk was dirty. Everything was dusty and not wiped there were mug rings on the side which the owner had the cheek of blaming us for. Then to top it all off we couldn’t have a nice sleep due to the fact that there is nothing black out or anything in the property so if you stay then expect to be woken up by full sun at 5 in the morning. Everything was just dirty and damaged nothing like the photos. Then we tried to contact the owner about our terrible stay and I’ve never encountered someone so rude in my life. They are just after your money. They are basically con artists. He offered me compensation for the bad stay, I said how much and he then ignored my messages. I’m still waiting for a reply before I post my stay on Instagram - I have over 26k followers so I can’t wait to see his quick response once I post my stay on there. He was horrible. Whole experience was terrible

Didn't have to meet anyone, just arrived and was given a code prior for a lock box on the door. Easy to open and got in no problem. Apartment was clean and modern, loved the facilities on offer, we only stayed one night so didn't use them all but there is even a washing machine and laundry products supplied. Really comfy bed and nice quiet area. So close to walk into the city centre and easy to find.. Really good value for money and friendly, helpful host.

The stairs, there are quite a few and the final set which are inside the apartment are quite steep, with someone who has mobility issues this wasn't ideal but I managed OK.

It was a great apartment, exactly as shown, spotless, well equipped….i liked the bright rooms, very close to the town centre, shops on the same street…..perfect!

Location was good for the centre of town - just a stroll away from all the shops and restaurants.

I don't like blinds at a bedroom window - they have to be shut for privacy, but it was unusually hot weather, so nets would have been better. Also Mayfield Grove appeared, from the sound of it, to be a "rat run" from about 7am to 9am, so it was noisy. The street itself was pretty scruffy, but I imagine it's undergoing gentrification bit by bit.

Very central. Spacious and well-equipped. Spotlessly clean.
