Green Leaves Garden - Pinnawala

French family, we traveled to Sri Lanka with our 3 kids, 17, 21 and 25 years old. We loved everything! The place, the surroundings, the atmosphere, and moreover Anushka and his family. If you're looking for authenticity, simplicity and exceptional human relationships you'll be at the right place. Anushka is a perfect driver and guide. He picked us up at the airport with a van as we were traveling with our 3 kids and drove us to his house where we stayed for 5 days. We felt immediately at home and spent wonderful moments all together. Anushka brought us to amazing places, temple on top of a mountain with perfect view, river to have a bath every evening, tea factory, Ayurveda botanical garden, restaurant near waterfalls, and a place where we spent a perfect time with elephants, having a ride with them, washing them in the river and giving them some food. Such an amazing experience! He also waited for us in Nanu Oya train station to bring us back to his home after an unforgettable train journey to see the tea plantations. Always ready to make us discover new things, exotic fruits we could buy on our way, animals like monkeys, porcupine, giant lizards and giant bats, answering all questions and so interesting when speaking about his country. He can arrange you any tour you'd like to discover Sri Lanka, always helpful and reactive, you can trust him for everything. And what we loved the most are the precious moments we spent with his family. They are all wonderful people we'll stay in contact with for sure. For those who don't speak English good to know that his sister speaks perfectly French ( she's a teacher) and she's also super friendly and interesting. We spent unbelievable evenings all together, singing loud, and dancing, and having BBQ party. Thank you Anushka for everything, for being you, for introducing us to your family, for having such a great heart, and for having printed in our soul precious and unforgettable memories 🥰

This is such a unique place!!! Hidden away behind the main road, beautiful spot. I stayed in the cabin: so nice!! Perfect host and beautiful family. Please do have dinner there, amazing home cooked food. Loved it. The small pool was ideal just to cool down in the hot weather. Absolutely recommended!!

What a family, and what a place! As a couple we have travelled quite extensively and can honestly say: never have we been treated with such great hospitality. From tour guiding and cooking to being great company and exceptional hosts; Anushka and his family checks all the boxes. The room is cosy and clean, and you can feel the effort that has been put into the place. 11/10 ⭐ from us.

The first stop in Sri Lanka for me, my wife and our 17 months year old was Green Leaves Garden and we can highly recommend it! This was a really good way to get to know Sri Lankan culture. Anushka, the host, is such a nice and genuine person and he will help you with everything. We got to eat wonderful local food cooked by his family (if you eat vegan/vegetarian it's not a problem, in fact the opposite), go on hiking, visited different tempels, did a jeep safari, went to a herbal garden, a biological garden, a tea factory, even visited a funeral and got to know his wonderful family and friends. If you want to see elephants we really recommend you to see them in their natural habitat on a safari instead of visiting other places such as the orphanage (when we did research, several sources witnessed of the elephants being mistreated). Anushka picked us up from the airport and drove us to our next destination in Weligama after seven days. He even helped us with a missing bag from the airport. On our trips we always had interesting conversations about Sri Lankan history and current affairs and he was a professional guide on the different activities. We lived in a "simple" mud house which was very common back in the days. The room was spacious, had three double beds, a refrigerator, bathroom and air conditioner. We were in Sri Lanka for 30 days and spend seven days here and it was a great decision. If you want to get to know the real Sri Lanka, learn about it's culture and get new friendships, this is a great way to do it!

Anushka and his family were very warm and welcoming, they aimed to make us part of their family. Anushka has very good local knowledge and recommendations, he even offers tours if needed. The room was a unique stay and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep from this. They hosted us very well in their own little restaurant on site, which Anushka's mother prepared (amazing by the way).

Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions. If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you. It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩 I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
