"Loved it. Highly recommend it."

Oh my goodness, where to start? First off, the hosts were on top of the booking right away, sending detailed instructions on how to find the place. And very proactive when we had any questions during our stay as well. The kitchen worked well, and the hosts had graciously provided groceries such as bread, milk, butter, salt, pepper, sugar, tea and coffee. The whole place was clean as a whistle. The property on which Wisteria Lodge is situated is quite large, part of an old manor, and it was fascinating to wander the gardens and imagine life here years ago. It was lovely to sit out and listen to the birds all around. It was very quiet and secluded. The internet was sufficient - a few lags here and there but never an issue. Did notice that there was weak to no cell phone signal in the house with the EE network our SIM card used, but that didn't trouble us either. The lodge has been thoroughly renovated, and was much larger than we had expected. The shower was lovely.

This is not so much a "didn't like" than an observation. Once you get upstairs, getting from the bedrooms to the bathroom still requires navigating a few steps. Makes any night-time trips back and forth a bit more interesting.

The property was very nice and we'll appointed. It was spacious, well appointed and very peaceful. Small extras such as a pint of milk, butter and some cereal were a nice touch.

"Quiet, peaceful stay at a classy home, with good location for visiting the Lakes."

9.0

Very nicely laid out and with new decor, very fancy as it's obviously created from part of an old, fancy mansion. Huge garden with pond, many trees and plants, plus covered outdoor seating gazebo area. Very quiet and peaceful, owners live next door, but then no neighbours close by. Owners had left fresh milk in the fridge, a freshly baked loaf of bread, plus tea, coffee, sugar and packets of cereal - such a lovely touch. As I said, they lived next door so were quickly able to help when my stupidity meant I couldn't get the keys. Property is near a dairy farm with a lot of cows, so you do get the "smells of the countryside" when outside sometimes, but fine indoors. It really is in the middle of nowhere, which is perfect if you do want to get away from it all - but does have wi-fi (bit slow at times) and mobile phone signals still get through, so you are not cut off. Drives to Silloth, Carlisle and some of the lakes in the Lake District were easy enough, less than 1 hour, so a good central spot to be based. Also - important info for us which I wish more people would flag: no dogs living anywhere near the property, which also helped to keep it quiet.

Unfortunately, TV was not working due to some issue connecting to the internet (no aerial, so no terrestrial channels either). A little difficult to locate the property when we first arrived (not helped by Google Maps marking the wrong location as "The Gale". However, found out based on the photos from the listing.

"Perfect for peace & quiet with everything you need close by."

10.0

The location was perfect - everything you could possibly want to do is within a 10-30 minute drive. The gardens at the property are absolutely stunning and you are free to roam them (beautiful pond with water lilies). The house was lovely and clean with period features with an area out the front to sit in the evenings. The owners were lovely and friendly and available if you needed anything.

There really was nothing not to like! It was exactly as we wanted - peace and quiet!!!
