The Gate-Lodge at Levally House

We were attending a wedding at Lough Erne Resort and the location was perfect. The hotel even left us to the property after the wedding free of charge. Nice quiet location, perfect for two couples.

The beds were very squeaky if you moved at all and were very small for doubles. The water in the shower ran from freezing to scalding and back to freezing. Apart from this everything else was great.

Quitness, peace, fire. Clean sheets and towels. Cottage clean. Country walks.

Door handles keep coming off the kitchen and bedroom doors. TV kept switching off. Very little channels. Bedside lights only one was working. The main oven in the kitchen is not working and there are also no cooking trays for the small oven above the main oven which works to cook. Very little cutlery. Back door outside light not working. No bucket to clean the fire ashes out. No cleaning products had to buy ourselves. No bin liners had to buy ourselves. No supply of fire lighters and sticks to light fire. No coat hangers to hold clothes.no hand cleaning products In bathroom. No iron and ironing board. No information on the area and where to visit or eat also no information WiFi password. Being a 4 day stay over Christmas it would have been thoughtful to have a few Xmas lights. To be honest I don't think there were any thoughts towards our stay. Cottage is clean and tidy. Plenty of country walks. Cottage has warm heating but is even more cosy with fire lit. It's not an open fire as seen in booking com photo. Bedroom sheets clean also towels. Bed cover was thin not heavy so I had to use coats for extra warmth.

The property looks quaint. Its in a nice, country area.

We arrived in the dark, expecting the lights to be turned on but had to trawl through a dark garden and fumble to find keys. There are big boulders near where one parks which I nearly drove over due to the darkness. The worst part was that the mattress felt ancient, it sagged in the middle and was uncomfortable. I asked for a cot for my toddler and was told it would be there but it wasn't. The property got cold later in evening and it was not clear how to turn on storage heaters which appeared to be on a timer, the heat did come on again but by then we had got cold. We had been told we could get wood from the landlord however we didnt want to light a stove and we had expected the radiators to be usable in winter. We sat watching TV wrapped in blankets putting off getting into the cold beds, the toddler with me to keep us warm. The kitchen is poorly equipped. The table is too tiny to eat around and theres not enough space, you need to eat your meal on your knees in front of TV. There was minimal accessories in the kitchen - eg no oven gloves, had to use a towel from the bathroom, and unusually for a holiday let not even tea bags let alone milk etc. We were booked for 2 nights but missed the first night due to one of the kids being sick. When I emailled the property to say we weren't coming the first night but that we would be there the second day (I wasn't asking for a refund) I got a reply within minutes telling me to wash up and clean up after myself when I left. There was no polite concern for the sick child. It came across cold in every way and a bit stingy!. I would always wash up dishes when I stay in a holiday let and leave them out to dry but being asked to do so and put the dishes away was a bit much and also explained how the place wasn't very clean. Some of the cups were grimy.

Property was like staying at Fawlty Towers. Door handle fell off, toilet seat fell off ,toilet cistern ran continuously. Kitchen / dining was very basic. No information at all left in the property by hosts. This 2 Bedroom property is very basic and is definitely not value for money.
