Casa Lazzaro al centro di Siena

We loved the historic house, finding out the history of the family and the role they played in the history of Sienna, the beautiful rooms and antiques. We loved the host and how kind they were. The location was PERFECT.

Nothing we loved it

Location is great: right on the edge of ZTL, steps from the escalators that take you almost to the Cathedral square. Instructions for entering the house were clear and easy. Bed is reasonably comfortable.

This is my fault: I should have read the reviews more carefully... Stay away from this place if you have asthma like conditions or allergy to smells and dust. The house is humid, even damp (at least in October) and the smell from old furniture and stuff is terrible. The place looks and smells like an antique shop. Old smelly things are everywhere. Kitchen is full of useless things but you won't find basics like kettle, microwave or plates (there is a gas stove and an ancient fridge). And the floor plan is so confusing with the bedroom in the basement which is even more humid. We had to leave earlier than planned.

The location is great. Had a parking space. We didn't have good weather, but you could sit outside. The bed in the basement was comfortable. Viola, the owner, was very responsive and helpful

The inside is dark. While the owner has kept the old Siena "feel", there are tons of knick knacks and too much extra furniture. The fridge is quite a ways away from the kitchen. The main bedroom is down in a basement, which we didn't expect. Overall, all the spaces felt dated and cluttered, like an old homestead that has not been updated for rentors. We were there in October and it was cool and damp due to the weather. Italian law is such that you cannot turn your heat on until certain dates. Our lovely owner did for one hour at night and in the morning despite that law, but we were still chilled. Our washed jeans took 2 days to dry...I hesitated to make these comments because the owner is so lovely and helpful, but I think it's fair for future renters to have an accurate picture of what they will be renting.

The location is very convenient to visit the center of Siena. The ancient look and the historical pictures in the house give a great touch. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable.

The whole house is a bit dark and humid. There might be a bit cold at times. It is not spotless clean but nothing to worry about

The location is good for getting into Siena. Very close to the escalators. The house is decorated with many interesting things.

Be prepared to be awoken by the people upstairs. They are very loud walkers and you can feel every step, even in the bedroom. Earplugs will not stop it. It was well before sunrise when we were awakened by the noise. Then the motorcycle noise started at about dawn. This is not a place to stay if this will affect your trip or if you like to sleep.

Beautiful decor from traditional Sienna that made us feel like we were locals. Very friendly and responsive host.

Three days just perfect! The hospitality, the house by itself and the neighborhood were simply brilliant! + Parking space!
