Hythe House - Stylish Stay for Families & Groups by Catchpole Stays

The property had the basic requirements for our stay but was dirty and neglected.

The drive was covered in broken glass and rubbish when we arrived. There was dirty spoons in the drawer and dirty glasses in the cupboard, the property hadn't been cleaned properly, the oven is disgusting, the floors not vacuumed, a dirty socks behind a broken mirror in the bedroom and cigarette butts all over the lawn with broken garden chairs and a pair of boots in the garden. We complained to the owners and they did come and remove the glass and leave us some teaspoons as there were only 2 but they didn't do anything else. They did apologise and blamed their cleaning company, they also said they would do something in the way of an apology but we are yet to hear from them!

Beautiful location, receptionist was lovely showed us around some of the decorated rooms/ great hall and the wine cellar, stayed in room (202) was spacious and very cozy.

Not really much to say could do with a dehumidifier in the bathroom to help with the damp around the window walls/ the radiator didn't turn on in the bathroom

The breakfast was cooked well. The castle was very grand made all the better the way it was decorated for Christmas. Staff were polite and helpful.

I arrived at night and it was quite difficult to find even with the sat nav. It would’ve been better if there was a large sign which was lit up at night time. There were some very large potholes on the road leading up to the car park so you had to weave in and out to avoid them. The car park was quite dark and muddy after the rain.

Nice sofa,bed was comfortable

Water tasted awful, another car was parked outside house whole time of stay blocking carport
