The Gateway a lovely Spacious Seaside Property close to the beaches , centrally located in Porthcawl

Host was extremely friendly and helpful. Apartment was very well situated for sandy beaches, coney island and town, very spacious and homely.

It applicable

Bathroom towels like sandpaper with unpleasant smell, only one small toilet roll, water not draining from shower unit properly as the drainage plug blocked by lots of hair and dirt. The dish cleaning cloth and pot scouters x3 all been used many times & dirty. No welcoming tea bags or milk and sugar but used pot of coffee and old sachets of sauces and sugar used by others. Some of plates and dishes needed a good wash!

The location was ideal for what we wanted and was easy to walk most of the main sandy and stone beaches

The beds were quite uncomfortable

Andrew met us on arrival to hand over the keys, explain the wifi, tv, gas boiler water / heating controls, etc. We stayed with our two grandkids 8, & 6. The accommodation was just fine space wise for us, and reasonably well equipped. The bathroom is ok, the shower was good. It is situated on a main road, (you can park on the front), but only 30 yds from a single track road (direct to the beaches which are massive, sandy, and have the odd period of surf waves) on which the kids could safely use scooters or 10 minute walk along. The track is next to Parkdean resort Trecco Bay caravan park with an entertainment centre, you can visit and get day activity passes, or a swimming session. Sunday being our arrival day with nothing much open, it was nice to have a Chinese takeaway across the road. The property is 10 minutes walk from the fairground which has £10 wristbands 5-9pm 2 nights per week.

Some of the property is in need of an upgrade, the lounge furniture is wearing somewhat, occasionally there was a slight smell of dampness . On the last night the smart tv sky broadband failed which was disappointing. We saw some complaints in some reviews prior to our arrival, but overall, I think this property for what we needed was ( if you're not expecting perfect) a well located very good value for the price paid, holiday stay .

Location was good, apart from a high police presence around which was a bit unnerving

The cleanliness of the property, it felt and smelt unclean. Needs lots of attention to detail. The furnishing are extremely worn! The bed is too big to be able to shut the door. There is a hole in the wall where the bed goes which hasn’t been mended. Lots of cobwebs. Poor standard all round. However the owner was very friendly and welcoming. This was the only positive to our stay.

Owner was welcome at first, off road parking and good location for the beach

The saying is true you get when you pay for! The property was atrocious as soon as you entered a very musty/damp smell hits you which instantly makes you NOT want to be indoors. The property is very worn and dirty with a hole in the wall, worn furniture, wallpaper hanging off the wall and damp bed linen. We desperately tried to find another property on arrival after seeing the place but couldn’t at such short notice due to having dogs. The bathroom was dirty and we were left 1 toilet paper for 4 people for 2 days so went out and bought out own. The WIFI was also very temperamental. The biggest joke about the property is how it’s described on booking.com as there is NO garden and NO third bedroom. This was very disappointing as we booked the property as we had dogs. The patio is at the front of the property looking over a busy road with rusty and chained furniture (all we could do was laugh as we had never seen anything like it). A few of the doors in the property didn’t close which included one of the bedrooms with a camp bed, hole in the wall as well as this you couldn’t close the door at all because the beds were in the way. Overall I would avoid this place if you want a nice relaxing break as it completely ruined our break away! We tired to speak to the owner on departure but he was rude and started shouting at us so we left quickly and was very happy to be going home!
