el nido mama hostel

DISGUSTING! This is the only word that can describe this hostel! We booked a specific room but when we arrived they put us in a different one. A nasty and dirty one, the bathroom was embarrassing. Good thing it was only for one night. The following day they gave us the room we booked and it was no better. The mattress and the pillows where smelly and moldy and we got a skin rush by sleeping there. Even the water from the shower was smelly! You have to pay 5$ a day for the AC and if you don’t want to use it the only five you a small fan that’s of course not enough for 4 people! The Wi-Fi only works in the common area so we were forced to spend time in this upstairs space that nobody has ever cleaned. Food leftovers, dead animals, ants and insects everywhere. They say “luxury is our last of priorities” but luxury and basic igiene are two very different things!

The internet in the common area was good.

It was dirty and disgusting! Never had that dirty showers & toilet! I also booked a 8 bed dorm that doesn’t exist. Had to sleep in a 15bed dorm instead. Not got a single dollar back. I asked for another room (they also got „family rooms“) they lied & said they would be booked out which was definitely not true. The staff got really unfriendly

I'm reviewing late but I remember the staff was very friendly (should you be willing to engage of course!). The area is quiet, outside the main town but only a short walk around the cape. There are cheaper food and laundry options nearby as well if you are observant and ask. Bars of soap were provided (at least for the room as a whole we had 1-2) Nice common area to chill, although mosquitoes :/

It is fairly bare minimum. - The dorm didn't have A/C (and I think they don't unless the room has enough (5+) people. I can't complain though as this was what I booked (if you see the A/C in the pictures of the dorm, it doesn't mean it can be used!). - The toilet in our room didn't work, but they let us use another one across the courtyard. - It could probably be kept cleaner (specifically the bathroom), but I personally can't complain.

The value of this property is great, the staff is nice. The rooms were big, and bed was comfy. The upstairs common space is very nice and comfty.

Location is a little far from the hub in El Nido, so you have you take Tricycle TukTuk or be prepared to walk. Also be aware can't drive right there, bus can take you so far, and then will have to take TukTuk to location.

Staffs are nice and very accommodating.
