Mariners Cottage, St Ives

Cottage itself good location. Shame about the none WiFi it was disconnected. Cottage itself could do with a bit more cleaning outside steps we had to sweep them down. Could do with grab rails on the bath also large mirror so ladies can see to do their hair

The location was ideal, upstairs was fine although they had no 'wardrobes' as advertised just small boiler cupboards in each bedroom. Not long enough for dresses or coats (if needed). The 'wardrobes' were certainly not big enough for two people.

Downstairs: 01 Dead flies on the window ledges in dust/dirt. They must have been from last year as when we went the flies were not even out. 02 All round the room, down stairs and upstairs, were flakes of paint, obviously been there for some time. Kitchen: 01 No internet, yet advertised. We did phone but never fixed. 02 On first putting items in fridge (which is in a cupboard) I opened the cupboard door and the fridge itself fell out of the cupboard. If there had been bottles in they would have smashed on your feet. We did phone and tell the agency and someone came out to fix it. Unfortunately, it carried on happening. 03 The tap in the kitchen was practically hanging off, we did report it but it carried on happening. 04 A cupboard door (very heavy) in the kitchen fell off every time you opened the cutlery door. We did report it but it carried on happening. I have reported this to Luxury Coastal, I also left a review on their site which I can't find now. I also left a message in their book in the cottage but hold no hope for it still being there.

The property is around the corner from the harbour, excellent for the shops pubs and bars and all the beaches. Lovely traditional cottage.

Whilst the property was very comfortable it was a little tired in places and could do with a deep clean. Behind the blinds and shutters were dead flies and mouldy windows and the bathroom in the third bedroom was quite bad, mouldy and damp and the mirror on the wall was covered in rust. There was dust under the beds and along the skirting boards and thick dust on the electric sockets. The wifi was non existent most of the time, the router was on the floor in the porch. We couldn't watch any films or catch up TV. Parking in St Ives over Christmas was shocking. You literally could not get a parking space anywhere and we ended up having to park in the leisure centre and make trips up and down to put parking tickets on the car. Traffic in St Ives was bad, like being in the city but with streets and facilities that cannot cope with it. When we arrived at the property the bin was overflowing, we had to empty it to just shut the lid to stop the seagulls opening the bags and the drain outside the kitchen door kept overflowing.

Location and dining room very nice

Cleanliness of all bathrooms, WiFi terrible, had to use mobile data all week, not even able to use smart tv, very poor selection of crockery and glass wear.

Location - enjoyed being in old area, Downalong. Picturesque house. Glad to have ensuite bathrooms in each of the three bedrooms. Comfortable beds.

1. There were four tvs, but we couldn't get any to work. Instructions to turn on the main tv included use of a DVD player, but there wasn't one. The instructions were possibly for a previous tv. Some of the remotes didn't correspond with the tvs, and two bedrooms had no means of turning on the tvs. We were provided with a local contact, but we didn't want to spend our holiday dealing with tvs, that should have been straightforward to operate. A simple analogue tv in the living-room, plus correct instructions, would have sufficed. 2. The WiFi connection was very poor. The description says WiFi "available in all areas". It wasn't. 3. The house wasn't very clean. Rubbish bin full in bedroom and full bin bags outside. 4. The "nearby" parking space was actually a 20 minute walk away, including a very steep hill - which would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems, who was unfit, or who had small children or used a pushchair. 5. The description of this property was misleading, and it was very overpriced for no effective WiFi and no functioning tv.

Cottage facilities & excellent location.

The property had not been adequately cleaned; surfaces were covered in dust & hair and an empty beer bottle had been left in the dining room. On arrival, we found one of the bedrooms had floided & the carpet saturated. Despite reporting this immediately, I received no respinse from either the owner oe the agent.

Location was great.

Cottage quite tired. Needs a lot of TLC. Needs to be maintained better. Paint peeling off walls, shower in one of bedrooms was terrible, no pressure and cold. Weeds in flower pots .Needs a thorough clean. It was attention to detail that it lacked. Shame as in a great location.

really needs some work, paint falling off walls, broken tiles in kitchen, no hot water in one bathroom or working shower, and it was really dirty I was appalled when I stripped the beds at the hair and mess around the beds under the sheets.
