Barncroft: Dogs welcome, dog care services offered

The location was great with good access to the coast and the northern lakes. The rooms were spacious with plenty of space to dry out our wet walking gear and the parking was really useful next to the property. The owners were really friendly and welcoming.

The TV and wifi didn’t work but the owners were apologetic and said they would get an engineer in as a priority. After a day walking in the rain, it would have been good to have had a hot bath but the bath taps didn’t work so we had to use the shower instead (which was a good shower to be fair). The road was busy and noisy from very early in the morning.

Barncroft is lovely. We were out exploring and hiking throughout the daytime, however, it was lush to come back to somewhere so cosy to relax and recuperate. Jacqueline was welcoming and responsive. I thought it was a lovely touch that throws to cover the sofa were provided to allow dogs on the sofa with owners. Though with our dogs being a Golden and a GSD we decided against sharing our leg space.

I can't think of any true negatives, the only thing I could think to change would be to add a new Guest book as the current one is full. Though i think this is rather a postive factor as it shows how popular and enjoyed Barncroft is.

Spacious, clean, great for family's and dogs. Some great walks around and lovely host. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Easy to find with very clear instructions and lovely warm welcome on arrival. Barncroft is a perfect base to explore the Lakes from, great main road location. The house had everything I needed, a really beautiful and bright place to stay, and was very warm and comfortable. Milk in the fridge was much appreciated, thank you!

Welcoming host with a pint of fresh milk and 1/2 a dozen of their own free range eggs on arrival. Great access to the Lake District and easy to get to from the M6. Everything you need for your stay and for the fur babies! Very clean and comfortable throughout with lots of local info provided and a comprehensive guest book of everything you need to know during your stay. Good off road parking. A delightful and spacious cottage, perfect for our stay visiting family!

It's right on a frequently used main road so you have to be mindful when getting kids and dogs into or out of the car. Noise from the road wasn't great but it didn't spoil our stay at all and they even supplied some ear plugs but we didn't need them!

The property was very spacious and gave a homely vibe. Added touches with milk and fresh eggs from the farm on arrival was a nice touch. Plenty of cutlery , cooking equipment and such to make your stay as close to home as possible.

It’s extremely close to a 60mph road, approx 6ft from front door to road meaning it’s very noisy throughout all hours of day being on a main transport link for both wagons and cars. The front bedroom is on the main road but had the more comfier bed of the two, but we had to move to the back bedroom on second night to try and get better sleep. However this was two mattresses pushed together and were very soft , meaning wasn’t a comfy sleep for remainder of the stay. Recommend investing in some better quality / firmer mattresses and a bed that doesn’t creek.

Lovely well equipped cottage . Jaqui very helpful. Fresh farm eggs and milk was a nice touch Very spacious rooms although ceilings a little low in the back bedroom. ( many head bangings to be had ) would recommend to anyone . Only down side is the proximity of the road which is quite busy most of the day and quite noisy. Got used to it by the end of the weekend
