"Very cosy cottage with lovely decor and traditional touches. Fabulous location in a beautiful area"

8.0

Received a message to explain where the keys were kept which was convenient and thought the driveway was fairly secure for our dog but there is a gap in the fence. This was ok as our dog was well behaved. Our children are older so understood the dangers of busy roads. May need looking at for younger families

Gap in the fence as it was located on very busy road Beds were a little creaky Need more hooks or somewhere to hang wet towels etc

Exit to the road was dangerous, mirrors would maybe help and bushes cut back. No tv, even though it says there is one. Switch in bathroom hanging off the ceiling, presume it's an isolation switch for the shower. Socket in downstairs bedroom, is loose. Would of been nice to have some tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk, for a cuppa after a 6 hour journey. No where for the dogs to go, last thing at night. No nearby walks either, so not really dog friendly.

Prior to confirming or paying for this reservation I specifically messaged the owner to ask if it was secure & safe for dogs - this was the main criteria we needed (hence asking in the first place) - we have visited this area of Wales on numerous occasions, so were fully aware that the main road leading through this village was a fast road. Our previous stays there have been in a well maintained, secure garden with gates to get through which were perfect for letting the dogs out to roam comfortably & freely for a toilet break without them needing to be on a lead 24/7 - we needed to ensure it was similar. The response from the owner of this booking confirmed safe & secure for dogs, so we proceeded to confirm & pay to stay there. Upon arrival of the cottage, some 5 hours drive away, the very first thing my husband commented on when arriving was ‘this isn’t secure for the dogs, how are we supposed to let them off the leads’ - we were very disappointed after this long journey and contacted the owner. The owner wouldn’t take any responsibility for this & was adamant it was secure & safe due to the gate & fence they had in place. Please see photos for said ‘secure’ fencing! There was no gate to secure the back of the property from the front, so basically any dog could freely roam / walk / run from the back to the front driveway and directly onto the fast traffic road. This was not what we wanted from a holiday to constantly have our dogs on a lead - and any responsible dog owner would agree. We have shown these photos to lots of people who have all agreed and couldn’t believe the standard of ‘secure’ this was supposed to be.
