The Lodge Bury St Edmunds

Clean and tidy. Convenient 15min walk into town centre. Quiet location.

The WiFi code in the guest book was incorrect. We were out for most of the short 2-night stay, so it was not too much of a problem. We did contact the management company, but they responded with the same code that was in the guest book. I would advise anyone tall (6ft+) or who has back issues to think twice - as this roof space (above the garage) does limit head height throughout the property. The double bed was a little soft for my preference, and also dips in the middle - so an update there would be good.

The photo and write up on web site indicated it was rural but on the edge of town

The photos did not show that the owners property faced it and was having building work done. In fact there was no view !

Lovely property in walking distance to a very beautiful Bury St Edmunds. All facilities needed for a short weekend stay.

We had no hot water on the first morning but we did in the evening, so we didn't mention this to the hosts. However, we again had no hot water on the morning of checkout, which was a little frustrating (stayed for 2 nights). The information book said hot water was on a timer between 0600 and 1000 with showers happening between those times.

The property is in a quiet and peaceful setting. It was easy to find and in a reasonable walking distance to the town centre.

The kitchen is not equipped for self-catering. The description stated 'kitchen' with an additional listing of microwave and toaster. The only form of self-catering is from buying microwave meals which isn't self catering. I don't consider a microwave and a toaster to compromise a cooking facility and the only microwave equipment was a plastic Christmas pudding bowl and a small Pyrex bowl. I'm not sure how these could constitute cooking facilities. This was very disappointing.

Location good

The property did NOT have self catering facilities even though it is advertised as such. No cooker just a basic microwave. No cooking utensils or microwave dishes. Just a toaster. No food preparation area. No food preparation knives. Lack of plates and dishes. Not a self catering apartment unless you eat out all the time or like cold food. Incorrectly described on web site.

the annex was really hot due to the weather and would benefit some form of fan put in the property
