Nice 4-bedroom vacation home with indoor fireplace

Close to our required location.

The location was close to Telford itself.

We arrived very late on our first night. Only because I changed the check in time around 5pm to between 9 and 10pm was the key code sent to me. Not a great start, but not horrific. Downstairs bedroom smelt of feet - some random spa type slippers, clearly not clean, were left in the corner. Not sure if from the house or not. We all went to bed - there is a superking upstairs. One of the mattresses was completely saggy. There were little bits over the carpets and on some of the bottom sheets for the mattresses. The beds weren’t the most comfortable, but we were up and out early the next day. Showers before we left - it is not a proper shower, there is a hose attached to the top of the taps. Anything which tell you that you need to turn the tap to a 45 degree angle and then the cold tap a smidge to get the right temperature isn’t completely fantastic. The sink taps were also a bit knackered. Anyway, we were out all day and came back late again, so it was straight to bed. Early hours of the morning I woke to what felt like something biting me. Put the lights on, could see more bits in the bed. Wiped down the bottom sheet with my hand, still felt like something was biting me so I managed to change beds. The bedroom at the back has a water tank in. It trickles all night. Woke up earlier in the morning (there are also cockerels very close by!), checked the bed again. More bits, which appeared to maybe be bugs. Check the photos and see what you think. The house also had some stains to the carpet and ceiling. I contacted the owner, who eventually replied and said they’ve verified that it’s not bed bugs (not sure how they verified), and that the mattresses are all brand new (I’d be getting a refund if so). They’ve offered a discount on a future stay, however I definitely would not be returning. Currently waiting for booking.com to get back to me, and would advise some caution. I’m unsure how the reviews are so great, as that unfortunately wasn’t our experience!

The property looked nice.

Unfortunately the place was not particularly clean; had oven trays to wash up when we first got there and there were hairs on the bed.

Location was great, good parking.

It smelt of stale smoke and there were tissues left from previous visitors

Could of been cleaner. My friend found dried up chocolate on a duvet cover upon arrival. Only one full toilet roll was provided, so I had to go buy more ( 6 adults, 2 nights, post curry... ) Considering it sleeps 8 there was only enough crockery, cutlery and cups for 5 people. More pillows and bigger towels please.

Very spacious nice garden goid beds and linen. Good wifi and TV
