"We loved staying in this piece of history and exploring the Lowther Castle area!"

This cottage is truly a gem! Everything about it - from the furnishing, beds, kitchen, bathrooms - was amazing. We loved staying is this piece of history. We also loved the proximity to Lowther Castle; it was very easy to walk to the castle and the Lowther Church.

Nothing stands out as a problem. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

A gorgeous cottage popped nicely between the village shop and the pub. Everything inside is new and in great condition - even the kitchen knives are sharp enough! - and all furnished very thoughtfully. Comfy beds and luxurious duvets a highlight. Such a pretty spot, wish we could have stayed longer.

Very comfortable bedding so we slept well and the location was central for us to look around the area and there was the convenience of being able to pick up a few things at the shop. We were also able to enjoy an evening meal at one of the local pubs - all very relaxing and nice to be able to support the local businesses

We found it a little frustrating to operate the appliances since there are no instructions. Some coat hooks or a coat stand at the entrance would be nice. And a non-slip mat in the shower would help.

Location is more to the north of Lake District but worked well for us as we were doing day-trips around the area. Penrith is quite a big city, it’s close to Askham and you can find everything there (e.g. food, gas, etc). The house and area are very quiet if you are looking for a piece of mind for a few days. Perfect for 4 people (2 couples in our case). The whole house is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen specifically is lovely. The heating works well and heats the house quite quickly.

Not much. The water pressure in the shower is not strong but not a major issue. The pub next to the house closes ar 19.30 so be aware, there’s no late dinner available in the area.

Beautiful village , stunning cottage very tastefully decorated and do well equipped. Handy location for north and south lakes. Great host
