Dog-Friendly Basement Apartment with Garden - Southsea, Portsmouth #26a

The apartment was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Everything we needed in the kitchen area, exceptionally big bedroom.

A set of very steep steps leading down to the basement (about 7 or 8) which became extremely slippy as it rained heavily. Found the parking awkward as we couldn't get a space in front of the apartment and had to leave the car in the next street, however we were given a parking permit so didn't have to pay anything.

All of it, in the heart of Portsmouth everything was less than 5/10 minutes away. My dog loved it

There wasn't nothing I didn't like

We initially booked this accommodation due to it's location and including parking , also importantly to us a garden/court yard for our small dog .. Upon arrival - we were informed by host that parking was not outside the property but intact on another street not near the property. When we entered the property we immediately saw ants on the kitchen /dining room floor to which we removed. We then let our dog out into the courtyard which was not in fact as advertised and very unsuitable for him. Please see attached photos . We stayed for one night out of two and had to leave the following morning as the ants had returned making it an unsuitable stay. We contacted the host and asked for a refund for the night we never stayed giving the reasons why . The host replied and was very apologetic and informed us that they were unable to refund the money and had to go through booking.com . We contacted booking.com who then informed us they had to get written authority from the host to refund the money. Further contact from booking.com was that the host had refused to authorise the refund . Despite having the evidence we were both very unsatisfied with the property, the host and booking.com

Presented clean and pretty! Lovely apartment will definitely rebook. Great host and communication. Good location, had a nice walk along the beach, lovely Thai restaurant beside it.

Struggled a bit to unlock the back door. Also thought some lamps would be nice in the sitting room (although we just brought the bedroom lamps in) and an additional bath towel each would have been nice. These are really small suggestions we absolutely loved it!!

Nice location, layout and size, everything was nice and it’s great value

Missing a few pieces of comfort; such as a blanket for the sofa and the lighting is very intense; no lamps for ambience etc

The property was clean and tidy

There was no basics in the kitchen. Only one chopping board so if you wanted to cut raw meat, you had nowhere to cut it. No salt and pepper or a basic mixed herbs. No cling film or foil. I used the washer, it had a very musty smell and water leaked out of the bottom.
