"Lovely cottage with well stocked kitchen."

10.0

Nice touch to have the little bits in the kitchen. Comfy beds and such a good view. Dog really enjoyed all the walking nearby.

Not a complaint at all but it would be nice to have a wooden spoon for cooking.

Very peaceful location. Very rural. Green field views from both sides of the house. Saw Roe deer, hares, various birds, all close to the accommodation. A good base to explore from and only a few minutes drive from Buxton itself. Weather remained fine dry and sunny which made for pleasant outdoor activities. I felt quite at home in the house itself.

There are issues that need addressing re cleaning. The accommodation was advertised as Pet Friendly, but there was nothing else similar or cheaper that would have suited me for my length of stay, so I booked. Given that there is a cleaning fee of £85 included in the booking fee, you would not expect to have to hoover the master bedroom with Henry vacuum to get rid of white dog hairs from the last occupants stay when you first arrive, but that is what I had to do. Nor was it just a bit of hair either. I think that the cleaner had given up altogether on trying to keep carpets clean. Perhaps better to replace carpet with wooden flooring and rugs to make things easier to manage in the future. The cleaning of a place that accepts pets should be much more thorough as not all guests staying will have pets. The smell of dog was also strong downstairs when you first entered the property. Far from pleasant. The odour was still detectable when I departed. Other maintenance issues that needed dealing with were the bedroom door knobs and the porch needs a fungicidal agent applying to get rid of mould. This was not a welcoming sight, but is something that can easily be addressed.

"Only good because we have family in the area and we know the area."

6.0

Very quiet, nice view and safe garden for the dog. Lounge was cosy thankfully, it was the coldest weekend. January 2025.

Can’t park at the property, very difficult in the weather. It’s about 100m walk uphill. No heating in bathroom or kitchen during the coldest, snowiest time of year brrrr. I couldn’t have a shower. Very few plug sockets and needed more lamps in the lounge, not the harsh main light. Not enough plug sockets in any room. The beds are right up to the wall and difficult to get in and out with limited mobility. Very steep stairs too. Couldn’t find a torch, tinfoil or baking paper. Bedroom drawers full of spare lined. Don’t think the owners have tried staying there in winter.

"This warm, cosy and quiet cottage is a great place for getting away from it all"

10.0

Situated on the edge of a small village (Peak Dale) the rural position offers views of hills, trees, dry stone walls and cows which graze in the fields alongside. It’s an excellent base from which to explore the Peak District. The complimentary cake, biscuits and milk left for us on arrival was much appreciated. And such lovely local neighbours who even managed to find something we dropped when moving in after dark and then left it for us by the front by door.

cottage was lovely. It has all the essentials and the heating was working as one day was too cold. Bedrooms was lovely and nice to sleep on and kitchen fully equipment. They left me pack of eggs, milk and pack of bisuits and there is tea or coffee. That was nice.

What I think was down is the car park. As cottage in a row of cottages... At the bottom of the houses there wasn't a car park space. So it was better to leave the car at main road. So had to do a couple trips with my luggage.
