BEWARE. If you are elderly and you have any type of physical disability and if you travel with a service dog, you will be treated very rudely, asked to leave the premises and they will not help you one bit to get you and all of your luggage back to your car. I will now explain. We were coming in from Cebu City. We had hoped to be on the road/boat by 10:00 a.m. but we ran into some delays and did not leave until 2:00 p.m. We had to drive the shore road because the boat that we were planning to take would not let me have my service dog with me, but my dog would be kept in a different area away from passengers. This a practice that is NOT in compliance with the federal law which protects owners and their service pets. So, we had to hire someone to drive us from Cebu City, all the way to where a boat would take us the last 40 minutes of our journey to Dumaguete City. When we finally got off the boat in Dumaguete, it was 9:45 p.m. The first thing that we did was to find our way to where our room was within the Marina Condominium Dei Lei 2. Once we knew where we were going, we immediately found a restaurant because we hadn't eaten all day other than snacks. By the time we finished eating, it was 11:00 p.m. Then we went directly to the Dei Lei complex. The first Security Guard we came in contact with was very nice and he gave us directions to where our unit was. When we got to the area where we needed to be, we had to park quite a distance from the actual elevator and our unit. Luckily for us, the couple that brought us from Cebu stayed with us to help us with our belongings because we had come from the US and besides six suitcases and two carry-ons, we also had quite a few other bags of items that we purchased in Cebu. The four of us took what we could but our driver had to walk all the way back to the car to get the rest of the items we had.

of insulin and my service dog. When we finally got to where we were supposed to get on an elevator to our unit, we were met by another Security Officer who is without a doubt a direct descendant of Satan himself. When he saw my dog, he told me that pets were not allowed and that we needed to leave immediately. I tried to explain to him that my dog is a service dog and is properly registered as such. He again told us to leave because of the pet policy. I the explained to him that under the Federal Law in the Philippines that covers service dogs, that I had access to take my dog with me anywhere that I went and I should not be refused entrance to anywhere I go. He told me that the law did not concern him because he had no knowledge of the law. Then, some other person in some type of green uniform came along and confirmed that we needed to leave. Neither one of them would even offer to help us back to our vehicle because of all of the baggage that we had and the long walk that had already taken its toll on my legs. We finally left the complex and we ended up finally getting into a room at 12:30 a.m. I have consulted an attorney, and he pointed out many things that should have been addressed when we got there. The complex itself obviously has never given proper instructions to any of the Security Guards that work there, with reference to service dogs and Philippine law, thus making them the prime targets of what will be a lawsuit against the owners of the complex. After the attorney explained all of the violations of my rights under many aspects of what happened that night, I am determined to go along with his findings and file suit for damages. Like I said from the beginning, BEWARE.
