Real fisherman's cabins in Ballstad, Lofoten

The accommodation is very well located and atypical

The accommodation was not easy to find, it was dirty, there was no heating in the large bedroom so we had to ask for a space heater. The tap water froze, depriving us of water in the kitchen, and we had to leave the water running from the other taps to prevent it from freezing. After 3 days, the electricity in the large bedroom was no longer working, so there was no supplementary heating in this room, and the water heater was in the same room, so there was no hot water... Last but not least, the lack of light in the room is annoying, especially when it gets dark early.

Cozy Cabin in a beautiful landscape

Our stay was lovely! The cabin was rustic and had an older, comforting charm that must be experienced. We enjoyed staying in a real fisherman's cabin and seeing old photos of the area many years ago. We came here with our elderly parents who were visiting us in Norway, and they enjoyed the coziness of the place. The stairs are a bit steep, so it's something to consider when staying here with older people, but for our parents it wasn't an issue, it just required more attention when going up or down. The owner was very helpful and gave us recommendations on things to do and see in the area. We enjoyed the restaurant next door as well and finally getting a taste of traditional Norwegian food and fresh fish. It is a great place to stay if you want easy access to the more popular lower islands (Reine, Hamnøy, Å), but would also like to avoid the crowds. We highly recommend this place and look forward to staying here again the next time we are in Lofoten!

Cabin looked like the pictures

- Weird smell in one of the bedrooms - Bedlinen and towels delivered after we arrived in the cabin - Main area was "clean" but outside of it, it was unsure if it was ever clean before or done properly - Instructions were unclear we had to go over all the houses on the picture and try to get the key.

The area was full of houses looking the same and we had to spend great time until we found It by accident. - It was not a house as marketed. It was an apartment with no noice sound proofing at all. - The cabin was pretty much in the original condition. Sheet metal of the fireplace was sticking out which could cut your feet. - 1/3 roll of toilet paper provided
