Winterton Country Lodge @ Rose Cottage

Breakfast excellent. Staff very helpful and gave good suggestions of where to go.

Some roof insulation to mute the heavy rain noise as roof was metal.

The location is great, close to but far enough out of town. People are amazing. Place was clean and neat. Fishing was great.

Water grass in dam, but we were still able to catch.

Everything. The quiet surroundings, location is ideal, it's central to almost all areas of Drakensberg. Staff and owners are very friendly and helpful.

32" from far is too small. Perhaps a 40" would be nice.

We had a lovely time at the Winterton Country Lodge. The host, Jeunesse, provides a most charming welcome. The property itself radiates charm. And we had the largest and coziest unit, with our own porch swing and lots of space inside. Lots of elements showed attention to details, including many European plugs, a teapot, comfy armchairs in the common areas. The property is located out of town, which is OK, as you would need a car to get to most destinations anyway. The grounds are extensive, with a lake, a wooded area, and nice landscaping.

Everything was fabulous. Just to make a suggestion here, there were some muddy areas in the parking lot: maybe a bit of gravel would help to keep mud off the guests' feet. But this was a very wet season and the amount of rain was probably much more than usual.
