"True luxury safari an easy drive from Port Elizabeth"

10.0

Woodside Manor is an amazing property. We couldn't believe our luck to have found such a special place. The setting is stunning - the house and rooms are beautifully laid out and there are lots of lovely touches. When the sun sets the night sky is stunning. The team were incredibly kind - from Tim our super charming and knowledgeable ranger, Tsiembe who kept us constantly refreshed, Chef Moosa's delicious meals (try his Malva Pudding) and Sherreyne who helped make everything run like clock work. The game drives were beautiful. We saw elephants up close, Lions, cheetahs and their cubs, rhino, buffalo and a wealth of other wildlife. We enjoyed every drive - and left with many great photos and happy memories. My daughter and wife also went on the Woodbury Riding trail which they loved. It really was the most amazing experience as they got to ride alongside zebra, warthogs, giraffes and even do a bit of cattle driving (my wife also had a wonderful massage) Thank you to all the team who made our stay so special. We would highly recommend Woodbury Manor to anyone looking for a truly luxury break in every sense of the word.

I really can't fault it

"Pricy, but worth it, we would definitely do it again - 5 star experience and great sights on the rides"

10.0

- 5 star experience, looks exactly like on the pictures - very personal (a cook, manager, facility manager for 8 people max, in 4 rooms only) - feels like a very big family house with private staff - all safaris with Johan were great (morning safaris starting at 05:30-06:00, evening safaris starting at 16:00, both lasting about 3h, we saw almost everything, 4 of the big 5 and much more. All the Amakhala vehicles (I think there were 9) are connected via CB radio and update each other about sights in the reserve. Directly at the first game ride we got a hint from another car and saw lions after 15 min - big wooden table for breakfast, lunch and dinner for max 8 people, fire place outside and inside as well as options to eat outside. Meat, Fish and Vegetarian options for all meals - small pool, we did not use, but looked nice

Nothing, everything was great! We had concerns: - That we might stay hungry and have no resupply, as the Manor is remote and you get shuttled to the manor from your car in 15-20 min -> There was enough at breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can always get coffee, tea and small things in your room and in the main area for free. - That there might be wild animals at the Manor -> The manor has an own high fence and gate around the whole area, we felt safe in there - That we might get stuck inside a reserve house, in case of an emergency or medical issue and can not leave -> There is always staff at the manor in a side building and you have an emergency number on your welcome letter. I am sure they would have shuttled us immediately out or to our car if necessary, as mentioned there are only 8 guests in the house. - That a game ride / safari might get dangerous with wild animals, it was our first safari -> we always had the feeling to be safe in the vehicle, it is quite high and all the animals seem to be used to vehicles, as if the vehicle would be a species living in the reserve. Tip: Even in the summer, bring a puffy jacket and buff. They have blankets on the vehicle, but it can be quite chilly in the morning and evening, even in September

"Exceptional luxurious safari experience"

10.0

We had an absolutely exceptional stay! Woodbury Manor exceeded all our expectations. The Villa was beautiful with a stunning bathroom featuring an indoor and outdoor shower and a freestanding bathtub overlooking nature. The game drives were incredible – we even saw four of the Big Five – and our ranger was fantastic. The entire team made us feel incredibly welcome and the food was excellent. A truly luxurious and unforgettable safari experience. We would come back anytime!

"Simply unmissable"

10.0

Easily the most exceptional experience I've ever had at any game reserve in South Africa. My family and I celebrated a special reunion at Woodbury Manor and were constantly amazed by the exquisite design and luxury of the manor itself, the faultless service of its warm and welcoming team, and the heart-opening views it affords of Amakhala. Our game drives were excellent, and the knowledge of our guides — whether they were spotting the Big Five or pointing out the minutiae of the region's ecosystems — was consistently impressive. I am no newcomer to South African safaris, and Woodbury Manor was nothing short of otherworldly. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Nothing at all, except only that our schedule meant we couldn't stay longer. If I'd had my way, we would have filled several days soaking up the manor's comfort, eating the world-class food the team prepared, and marvelling at those endless views.

"An exeptional wildlife experience!"

10.0

We absolutely loved our stay at Woodbury Manor. The view from our private room was breathtaking; a real 'Out of Africa' experience. Setting off early in the morning on game drive with our personal game guide and vehicle is so exciting, not knowing what animal may be just around the corner. Our guide was professional, informative and personalized each trip on Amakhala Game Reserve, showing us so many of the animals we came here to see, both big and small. Between game drives there was plenty of time to laze around the beautiful pool, looking up at a clear blue sky watching the birds swoop overhead. The staff were kind and attentive, and nothing we asked for was too much trouble for them. Sitting around the fire in the evening under the magnificent canopy of a starlit Africa sky after a totally delicious dinner is a memory I will cherish forever.

We should have stayed longer.
