La Duna Desert Camp is a truly beautiful and remote retreat in the heart of the desert. The location offers complete peace and privacy — perfect for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy nature in silence. The experience was mostly amazing. Communication with the camp via WhatsApp was smooth and easy, which made organizing everything very convenient.

However, there were a couple of small issues during our stay. One evening, the dinner provided was not vegetarian as requested. Also, there seems to be a problem with the toilet in the bathroom — possibly a leak — which led to some unpleasant smells. Despite these minor problems, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend La Duna for anyone seeking a unique and peaceful desert getaway!

"Beautiful desert camp"

Very good attention to details especially considering the location. Location itself is superb and staff very friendly. Beautiful secluded desert environment, perfect if you want isolation. Dinner rich and tasty.

Bathroom with no air conditioning but minor issue. Breakfast could have been richer

"Amazing stay in the middle of the desert"

9.0

The location of the camp is perfect, far away from other camps so you really get to enjoy your time in the desert. Definitely one of the most unique accommodations you can book. The room is new and clean and breakfast and dinner were amazing. The hosts are really friendly and helpful and they even brought us a huge container of ice when we asked.

Not really a negative, but just to be aware that there's an electric generator required for the air-conditioner and a few other high-voltage items which can be noisy, however, it can easily be turned off when not in use. A few additions like hand towels and a bath mat would be great.

"Amazing experience."

8.0

Very good experience in the desert. We stayed for 1 night and felt this was long enough. Clean and modern room and bathroom with outside seating areas. Tea/coffee is provided along with some bottled water. We were met by staff at a pickup point just outside the desert and followed them in in our 4x4 after they had let our tyre pressure down. The drive is about 5mins from the tent and is fairly easy. We had booked dune bashing/sunset viewing and were picked up by the same staff at our agreed time. This was a great experience and highly recommend. A very peaceful experience being in this tent at night - I can't remember the last time I experienced silence like it. Omani breakfast the next morning was perfect.

The bathroom had a bit of a drain smell but im guessing it's all going into a tank so not sure if that can be fixed. The source of electricity for the aircon is a petrol generator behind the tent so just turn that off if you want some peace and quiet. The dinner we paid for turned out to be a buffet at a different hotel which was sort of confusing as that hadn't been communicated to us at all - they just randomly pulled into its carpark on the way back from the dune bashing. No internet or TV. It would be nice if hand towels were provided in the bathroom.

"the best of the best!"

10.0

This camp was the absolute highlight of our 2-week trip to Oman! As far as I can tell, it is one of the only camps where you are completely alone—without any other guests or neighbors in sight or within hearing distance. It is situated slightly elevated on a dune, surrounded by more dunes to explore or to watch spectacular sunsets from. At night, the starry sky appears in a way you may have never seen before. The accommodation provides everything you would expect in a regular hotel room, making the stay very comfortable (electricity and running water are not a given in all camps, but here we even had air conditioning). The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and practical. The outdoor area features a fire pit where we sat in the evening, enjoying a book by the fire. The food was excellent and can be ordered through the host, who delivers it to the accommodation right on time. We never knew what menu to expect, but everything was delicious—just trust the host, he really knows what’s good! Bring a healthy appetite because the portions are huge! Drinking water is available at the camp, so there’s no need to worry about that. We also booked a desert excursion through the camp, driving up and down the dunes in a 4x4 (we didn’t drive ourselves). A huge thank you to Nassr, who showed us the best spots and even brought a sandboard for us to have some fun in the sand. Later, he prepared a BBQ for us under what felt like the only two trees in the entire desert.

"Spectacular desert stay! Highly recommended"

10.0

We picked La Duna as it looked more private and secluded than the nearby desert camps - and we were not disappointed. The brainchild of Nasser, a young local engineer with a passion for design, La Duna combines all mod cons with a genuine desert experience. Sunrise comes through the panoramic front windows, and dinner (optional) and breakfast, which Nasser brings up from the village, were the best meals we had in our 10 days in Oman. He also knows the best spots on the dunes for sunset viewing. Best suited for couples.

Electric generator can be noisy for some, but it's only required for air conditioner, kettle and a couple other high-voltage items. Solar panels for LED lighting means you can leave the generator off for most of your stay and make the most of the off-grid desert solitude that La Duna offers.
