Dene Annexe, Durham

Excellent location for walking/cycling into Durham along the river. Also some lovely walks around Shincliffe through woodland and fields from the leaflet Simon had thoughtfully provided in the property.

Some hooks for towels would have been useful in the downstairs shower room.

Beautifully presented … very new and clean …. Well equipped although we would have appreciated a coffee machine Communication with the property owner was great with flexibility about checking out

Access to the annex is on a slope … likely to be hazardous and slippery when very wet/icy. There was no lighting around the passageway to the entry door - this passageway would benefit GREATLY from motion sensor outside lighting. Parking on the driveway was difficult and fortunately we had brought a small car - our larger car wouldn’t have been able to manage manoeuvring within the narrow space There is no switch to light the staircase from upstairs …. Only possible to light the stairs from downstairs

The bed was sumptuous, the furnishings were of a very high quality, and there was a real sense of space. Superb connections to Durham. Shincliffe itself is beautiful with great coffee shops and pub.

Everything. The location was perfect for easily moving around, the cottage was beautifully decorated; the kitchen had everything you could want; Simon, our host, was extremely helpful and available.

This is NOT a complaint, just a suggestion. It would be nice to have a few more hooks or a towel rack in the bathrooms to hang up a wet towel.

Location was good . The Rose tree pub did great Sunday dinner

Need blackout blinds or thick curtains in bedroom as too light from early morning
