"Perfect Location in Edinburgh Old Town"

9.0

This apartment is the PERFECT location for exploring Edinburgh old town! It's convenient location meant that we could drop things or stop by in the middle of the day without derailing any plans about seeing the town. Having keys stored at the pub downstairs was amazingly easy to pick up and get in the apartment. Nearby luggage storage meant our morning arrival was no big deal. (Though be prepared for hills and cobbled streets!) People watching out the front window with morning tea was great. Also, the bedrooms are far from the street, so noise wasn't an issue. There was also an additional door to close if you needed it to be more quiet. The laundry facilities were convenient!

"A gem in the middle of all the night life"

8.0

The location was exceptional. Right in the middle of everything, yet not as much street noise as we’d expected. Large living room, equipped kitchen, and two bedrooms. Very useful house manual with recommendations for places to eat locally. a towel rack warmer! Having a window that opened in the living room and kitchen was lovely! We were able to get fresh air. Walking distance to Edinburgh castle and lots of local history. The folks in the restaurant downstairs were very friendly and the food was quite good. Grocery store not too far away, on South Bridge, and a drugstore/beauty supply just across the road if you forgot anything.

The mattresses were not as comfy as we’d like, and the shower, although looking new, was problematic. Hard to understand and absolutely no place to put soap or shampoo, so you either had to put everything on the floor of the shower, or put it outside the shower and get water on the floor. A simple wall-mounted soap dish shelf from Ikea could have solved that problem. The shower took some getting used to because there were several options, none of which were particularly intuitive. And it’s small enough that all the futzing around had to happen with the shower door open. Glad there were plenty of towels to mop up. . . The bedroom did not have a window that opened and it was a bit stuffy and warm. We didn’t mind the walk up the hill from Waverley, but unless you are fairly fit, you might want to go down Princes St to North Bridge and go up the hill to High St. that way. We went up Cockburn St, which was quite steep, and with suitcases and cobblestones, it was not real fun.
