Authentic stay but with shower and sink

Why there is no shower. We think that shower is basic for any accommodation that is the reason we don’t actually look for explicit mention about the shower. Next is, dry toilet outside the house is really a concern for ppl who are using it for the first time and nature calls can be at any time of day/night which means going outside at odd times is a concern!!!!

We loved having a large space all to ourselves! The lodge is equipped with a kitchen that had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinners when we wanted (which help saved is money), other than not having a sink/running water. The view was amazing and we made sure to take advantage of the chairs outside to eat dinner at. The beds were comfortable and the staff we met were friendly! We personally loved having the dog kennel right outside and made sure to say hi to them each day as we were passing. The lodge was right outside of the main village, about a 15-20 minute walk from the center of town. However, the tourist information center has bikes that you can rent for about 40 NOK a day (~$4 USD), making the trip an easy one. Most of the tour companies will pick up and drop off at the lodge, so that wasn't a problem for us either. Overall, a great stay! We were actually quite sad leaving Tommy's Lodge and Svalbard!

We knew this ahead of time, but obviously not having a toilet/shower attached to the lodge with running water was the only downfall. However, we planned ahead and brought body wipes and the staff made sure to keep the toilet area clean and filled with scent diffusers to make sure it didn't smell bad.

Standard domku jest zgodny z opisem. Nic nas nie zaskoczyło. Toaleta na zewnątrz, zamiast wody w toalecie trociny. W domku brak bieżącej wody. Woda w baniakach z kranikiem. Pokoje przytulne, jeden większy do biesiad z kozą do opalania, ale były też grzejniki elektryczne. Gdyby nie fatalny, nerwowy gospodarz byłoby super. Domek położony przy fiordzie z doskonałym widokiem, nawet psy, które były w sąsiedztwie nie przeszkadzały bardzo. Dawały o sobie znać, ale w granicach rozsądku.

Gospodarz. Ten człowiek powinien przemyśleć swoje zachowanie i stosunek do gości. Traktował nas jak intruzów. nie dba o to lokum. Domek nie jest czysty, o opróżnianie toalety z trocinami musieliśmy się upominać, zamek w drzwiach został naprawiony po kilku dniach, a na wymianę butli gazowej do kuchenki czekaliśmy ponad dobę. Nie interesował się też czy mamy wodę w baniakach. Poza tym był bardzo nerwowy. Gdy zaparkowaliśmy samochód na placu przy domku przeganiał nas w sposób chamski, najpierw waląc w drzwi pięścią, a później nerwowo gestykulując. Więcej już tam nie zamieszkamy ani nikomu nie polecamy. Gdyby nie to na pewno to miejsce jest dla tych, którzy lubią mocne wrażenia i surowe warunki.

Dichter an der Natur kann man nicht sein. Für uns die authentischste Art in Longyearbyen zu übernachten. Wir waren 2x hier und würden auch nur hierher zurückkehren.

Ich glaube viele Reisende lesen nicht richtig was sie erwartet. Kein fliesendes Wasser ist doch nicht schlimm und eine Toilette vor der Tür ist völlig ok. Uns hat nichts gestört.

Heerlijk back to basics. Het is even wennen aan geen stromend water hebben maar voor mij wende het snel.

A very cozy and comfortable cabin, equipped with all the basics, at a nice location with a great view of the mountains, only a short walk away from town. Recommended for those who wish to have an authentic Norwegian cabin experience!

The accommodation was with snowshoe dogs, but luckily they didn't bark much. The only problem was that no one greeted us, no one was in the accommodation and no one even picked us up or answered our messages. Since it was unlocked, after an hour of waiting in the bitter cold outside, we finally climbed into the cabin and checked in. During the whole time, no one came, nor has anyone contacted us to this day. It was very strange, not even a welcome note, nothing. I have never experienced accommodation like this before.

The accommodation was otherwise very beautiful and we really enjoyed it. The rooms and beds were comfortable, the fireplace was warm. However, it is a bit further from the city, it is good to have a car. The toilet was outside the house, you had to walk about 30 meters in the cold to the toilet, but the latrine was heated. We couldn't find the bathroom, nor could anyone tell us where to wash ourselves, since there was no one in the house next door. It was open and empty.
