BOLOGNA SUITES - PRIVATE BATHROOM

Location, communicative and helpful host, overall finish of the room and bathroom was good, nice touches on food / drinks in room

We had an issue with the bed which was clear on arrival and even though the host kindly tried to fix it, we couldn’t sleep well that night due to broken slats in the bed. If it hadn’t been for that, room would have been v good!

The apartment is very comfortable, clean, spacious and has a great location. It is very central, close to everything by foot ☺️ The suites also offer parking. There was a small misunderstanding regarding the parking, it was probably not the owners fault and we did not find a free space in the location, however Antonio promptly helped and recommended another parking nearby. Also, Antonio recommended to have coffee and pastries in the morning at the hotels cafe across the street and it was top delicious!

It is not a problem of the location or owner, the only downside was that there is a lot of construction in progress in the entire central area, on the streets and they started very early at 7AM.

Location was close to both the city center and the train station. Made for easy commutes and back and forth to different destinations!

They were replacing some roads just outside the stay and it was quite noisy, but that’s temporary and incidental. Other than that, the stay was excellent!

This is a lovely ensuite room in a former palace. We loved the spaciousness and the location. It was an easy flat walk to the station, and a short walk to the main square in the “old town”. There were a number of restaurants close by, so that was great. Although there are ongoing roadworks outside the building…a new light rail….we were not bothered by the noise….windows are double glazed. As there was unusually high May temperatures while we were in Bologna, we used the AC, and found it worked reasonably well.

Unfortunately, there was no bar fridge in the room, which was unexpected. I carry medication that needs refrigeration, and we could not keep drinks or snacks cold. Definitely a bit inconvenient. The owner said that the fridge had been stolen and he had not been able to get a replacement delivered before our stay. Upon reading other reviews for the Bologna Suites, it appears this is not a one off….fridges have been stolen from other suites as well. Seems a bit of a recurring coincidence. So if you want a bar fridge, my suggestion would be to confirm with the owner, just prior to your stay, that there is actually one in the room.

Clean, located halfway between Rail Station and centre of city (very walkable), great communication and instructions from host, complimentary water and breakfast snacks provided was a nice touch, lift and stairs in building. We would definitely look at staying here again (especially if bed issue resolved - see 🙁 comments)

Although the host does explain it’s to keep it authentic, the floor is very noisy 🙂 (didn’t really worry us on a 2 night stay but may be annoying to others). The bed base (wooden slats) is not strong enough and sagged a lot which was quite uncomfortable. We informed the host a he said he will definitely look at resolving that issue. That was really the only reason for giving a lower rating and if that is resolved we would definitely stay again.

The room is spacious and clean and the location is convenient. Self-service check in isn’t ideal and if you have any issue with the lengthy instructions you could be stuck outside for a long time. The so-called “safe luggage storage” is literally an outdoor car park space with a dirt floor that residents of the building, cleaners and other guests can access at any time, so it definitely doesn’t feel safe at all. I ended up taking my bag with me all day as I didn’t want to leave it in the dirt where anyone could rummage through it. The host was nice enough but generally took many hours to respond to my questions. Not great service for the price.
