"A weeks holiday to start my retirement"

8.0

The location was excellent for us to explore the island especially ideal with the dog. It was near to Tennyson Downs and The Needles so great places to walk to with the dog. The cottage was compact but had what you needed on a day to day basis. The response from Austin about the toaster not working was excellent, a replacement was brought to us. There is plenty of outside seating space to enjoy the sun and read a book.

There could have been a covering for the bathroom window also the door leading in to it is very small not good when you are 6ft 1 like my husband. I’m not sure the bunk beds are needed as they can’t be used by adults and I wouldn’t let a child use them. This may have allowed the door to be bigger. I would also possibly put an air fryer in. We cooked at the cottage a few times having an air fryer would have been ideal. I’m not sure that the desk or ottoman are needed something smaller as there isn’t a lot of space. We managed perfectly well but these are our thoughts.

"Cosy quiet cottage to use as a base for walking or star gazing."

8.0

Very characterful property, very cosy and perfect for a single getaway or even a small family. Happy to accept pets. Excellent location to base walks from, especially towards the Needles or along the coastal path. Also try the Causeway to Yarmouth, within reasonable reach. Excellent pub (The Highdown Inn) less than a mile away. Very quiet location, excellent views towards the Yar. Clear nights for star gazing.

"Cute and cosy"

6.0

The location was great and it had everything you need for a short, basic stay! Host gave good instructions and it was peaceful.

The WiFi was non existent, the bed was very small and uncomfortable and there were a lot of cobwebs/dust/dead insects around the property. The stove top was temperamental.

Location and privacy, the little cozy place for nice weekend

Unfortunately we couldn’t use fireplace inside, as smoke came into the room, but it’s not so huge problem - this place is cute)

"Basic accommodation, good base for a solo traveller, somewhere to eat, sleep and shower."

7.0

Loved the countryside location with views of Tennyson Down, Headon Warren and countryside across the Solent towards Southampton. The outside space was great on sunny days. Nice private spot, and quiet surroundings. Cute and quirky building. Shower room was spacious, lovely power shower and hot water. Parking in the field behind was good, handy for walking the dog.

Access to and parking on the narrow lane specified was not brilliant with a large car and a young dog, as the busy road made getting in and out tricky. Fortunately parking in field behind property was a blessing, although access to field was right on nasty bend with poor visibility. Property is very small. Kitchen area could do with a microwave and/or air fryer as cooking facilities were limited, and not everyone wants to eat out every night. WiFi signal was sporadic and only decent and stable when sat in kitchen in certain hot spots. Could do with radio, and perhaps slim TV (with built in dvd player) on lounge wall for those wet days and evenings. Stools provided in kitchen, and luckily there was one chair in lounge. Not great for comfort. No broom or dustpan & brush to sweep up inside. Property on whole was clean, but lots of cobwebs and daddy long legs on every ceiling and dirty windows inside and out. Sink in bathroom was rather precariously held up in one place with a wedge of cardboard between it and the chrome fitting below.
