Comfy Cozy Room in beautiful home

Very welcoming and friendly host, quiet neighborhood, and a very nice backyard to enjoy the evening.

I appreciated the homemade cupcake for breakfast, but sadly it was not enough to warrant a "five star review" as requested by the note next to the cupcake!

I arrived at the time I specified during booking, and no one was home. Tried calling the phone number provided in the confirmation email, turns out it's invalid. Waited outside for an hour, until two other guests arrived, who also had received no instructions and didn't know what to do! Eventually, they managed to get ahold of the host through a different app, and were told that we could enter the house. An alarm unexpectedly sounded when opening the door, very unnerving! The three of us sat down to chat in the living room. Eventually, the host sent me an email telling me that I could enter the house, and which room was mine… a full 1 hour and 40 minutes after my arrival. The room was supposed to have a private bathroom, turned out that it's actually shared. The host did not apologize for the mistake when pointed out, and only invoked being new to Booking as an excuse. This was a week ago, and the host still hasn't updated the listing. By the way, the light in the bathroom doesn't work, and the trash cans in the kitchen were overflowing. To add insult to injury, I found a (dead) bed bug under my bed, and later on in the evening, the host decided to discuss very "adult" topics with their partner, well within earshot. I appreciate that this is a homestay, but such private conversation topics have no place in shared spaces while guests are around. I could have glossed over any of these incidents taken individually, as mistakes or accidents happen, but taken together, I believe they show that this host does not take hospitality seriously. I would not recommend staying here.
