"An ideal place to stay for a visit to the area"

10.0

Very well equipped cottage with everything we needed. Ideal quiet location for access to the mountains and coast. Owner was very helpful and responsive.

Mirror in the bathroom was a bit too high for me - but then I am just 5ft tall. My husband (at 6ft) was fine!

Great little cottage for a walking and climbing base. Two twin rooms are unusual and perfect for our group of four individuals.

"Very Good"

I have mixed views on the cottage. It felt more like house sitting than a holiday. The location was nice enough although on a main road which I wasn't expecting. The bird tables inticed so many different birds which was beautiful.

The cottage is full of the owners stuff...not in a good way. I want my holiday to be away from the clutter of home, not to just be surrounded by someone else's. Due to this the cleaner obviously couldn't clean properly so the place was quite dirty. We had been informed the week before our arrival that the heating was broken and that electric heaters had been put in but maybe to keep the place warmer to shut off one of the bedrooms. The cleaner had therefore made the beds up for us in one bedroom. I spent a lot of money on this holiday, I didn't want to share a bedroom with my mum....I changed the bedding and moved into the other room. The bathroom was very dirty. We didn't even want to put our stuff in there (on the one shelf that was empty) as it was so dusty. The skirting boards hadn't been cleaned for a long time, and the back of the towel rail was all cobwebs. The bath was partly held together by sellotape. If you want a holiday that feels like your going to stay at your granny's then you'll love it. Which obviously a lot of people do as the book was full of good reviews. Just for me personally I didn't love it.

"Fantastic base to enjoy the west coast"

8.0

Fantastic location, with both the national park and a great service station/cafe literally a few minutes walk away. Lots of games. And a helpful host!

The decor was a little dated.

"Perfekt für unsere Bedürfnisse"

9.0

The location was excellent. (There was no breakfast - it was self-catering.)

Nothing obvious that could have been better.

"The Pines...a little gem"

9.0

The Pines is a self catering cottage in the quiet hamlet of Kinlochewe in Wester Ross. Its not boutique. Its not 'flash'. Its a home loan and its got all you might need for a peaceful but interesting visit and I loved it. We booked The Pines due to its location on our NC500 holiday. Passing from Ullapool we stopped of at the impressive Corrieshalloch Gorge before continuing along the NC500 to Kinlochewe. On separate days we then returned to visit the gardens at Inverewe plus other costal villages in 'slow time'. We even found a lovely artisan market at the village hall in Poolewe (Tuesday) where we got some smashing produce from a Baker from Skye who came up specially to attend. Another day we drove around the Applecross Peninsula and up the pass (oh dear!) On another day we visited the Beinn Eighe visitors Centre and completed a couple of their advertised walks (which I would recommend for the non-hillwalkers). Bird food was provided for feed the feathered locals and they came in their hoards. Saw our first Siskin too. Scenery? ...its not pretty but its mighty imposing. And this remote largely uninhabited part of Scotland is only 40miles from Inverness along one of the best roads we encountered on the NC500 trip. It could even appear on a short list for a city break. A little gem.

Didn't see any red squirrels or Pine Martins...…..hey, ho, perhaps another day.

"Beautiful clean and well equipped house set in a perfect location"

8.0

Well equipped home from home. Living room is a comfortable area with a fire, perfect place to relax after a day on the hills. Very Well equipped and clean kitchen. Nice well kept garden for bird watchers. Excellent location for accessing the western highlands of Scotland. The owner are extremely friendly and approachable

Not really things that we didn’t like but I suppose it’s things to note. It’s four single beds split over two bedrooms.
