Corporate-Friendly 2BR Apartment in Leeds, Near Kirkstall Shopping Centre

I liked that the owner moved me to another room because the first room was leaking so the water was turned off.

Location was great. Literally over the road from a shopping complex with a huge leisure complex a 10min drive away. Apartment was clean with plenty of towels and bedding. WiFi was good. Free on site parking was handy.

Very sparce. Only one bed sofa in lounge with nowhere else to sit. Very little kitchen equipment, only 4 plates and 2 bowls with 5 people staying. No baking tray etc so we could use the oven. Check in details were vague, we actually asked a resident to help us with the code for the door. Bedroom door was missing a handle and one of the kitchen cupboard doors was behind the sofa. Some of the bedroom furniture was broken, handles missing etc. Felt a bit neglected for the price we paid.

Extremely unhygienic, entrance lobby stank of mould, cannabis and wet dog, and the side entrance (that we were instructed to use) was somewhat of a spiders nest, literally hundreds of spiders all over the walls. The property had several BROKEN items, not just damaged but full on broken; the wardrobe door was hanging off, the shelf completely broken. The shelf in the bathroom missing and the toilet seat hanging off. The shower was dirty, not like a stray hair that had been missed but properly disgusting, there was a used tray in the oven covered in grease and used foil. Huge stains on the carpets and half of the things they were supposed to be providing such as tea towels, a pillow and quilt for the sofa bed, or even an aerial to actually use the television. I’m not sure how you can rent a property for a week and they supply you a quarter of a toilet roll, no washing up liquid and you have to buy your own cleaning supplies to clean the place before it’s sanitary enough to let your children stay there. Took the issues up with the WhatsApp number that had contacted me with check in instructions to receive “thanks for letting me know” despite the fact they had a cheek to charge a £100 damage deposit and may very well have blamed us, considering they appear to be oblivious to the issues. We were 400 miles from home with no option but to stay, so given the opportunity we travelled a further 2 hours south to stay with friends for 2 of the 7 nights, just to get a decent sleep. All of this made worse by the fact that I attempted to contact the owners several times and nobody ever answered the phone, so contacted booking.com around 5 times to get a resolution only to never hear back from either and be send a £15 refund (2.

I liked that there was nothing physical to lose as it was all codes and they were provided well in advance

When getting to the property, we were helped by other guests in showing us where and the codes were the exact same for them on both the public door and the door to the apartment
