The place had a relatively modern kitchen to use

They provided one toilet roll for a 4 x night stay and also one large towel (this is an apartment for multiple occupancy). On the 3rd day I asked for a new towel and the owner put up such a fight. It was ridiculous. I bought my own toilet roll. Fair enough don't replace towels if there is a washing machine...but there is no washing machine...so the owner expects you to use the same dirty towel for 5 days! The door to the flat must be a 100 years old and I got stuck in there a couple times..on one occasion I had to call the owner to get me out. She insisted it was fine and it was all my fault. Simply that is not good enough...if there was a fire...I was not getting out. The location is also atrocious! There is literally rubbish everywhere outside ...on all the streets, pavements. The rubbish continues the whole 20min walk into the old town... It's just awful. My advice is do not stay here! The place shouldn't even be available. I passed on a hotel room in the old town for this place to try out an apartment... Highly regretted it!!!!!!

The apartment was clean. The host was friendly. Daily amenities were nearby. Budget friendly.

It was cold. Without any heater. The AC didn't work properly.

Nice, modest apartment in a quiet location within walking distance of the city centre, very clean and well equipped. The host was very nice and helpful.

it was SO COLD!!! we were there at the end of January and there was no way to heat up the room which was terrible! never had this problem in any other places in Italy! You could heat up where you slept but the rest was COLD and even where you slept was also cold with the AC on full heat. So the heating was terrible! It was hard finding the apartment and the doors are very very tight! hard to get in and out and hard getting you’re bags in. The shower had almost no power and we couldn’t light up the stove as the lighter was totally empty. it is around 20 min walk downtown.

The apartment was very clean, the beds are comfortable, the host was really helpful and waited for us even after 10 p.m.

Nothing. Just be aware that Catania is very specific city ( very dirty, with old, sometimes damaged buildings), a bit shocking in the beginning, especially if you arrive during the night, but then you get used to it.

Good location in the city.

It was easy to arrange check-in thanks to the host's prior contact, apartment was clean and contained pretty much everything needed for a short stay.

To get to the app you'd need to pass road not adjusted for pedestrians, each time it was a stress. Having travelled with kids next time I would definitely choose a bit closer location.
