ROMANTIC LOFT WITH JACUZZI IN THE CASTLE

Great location, right in the heart of Castelsardo. You can park free nearby.

This is a large medieval room at street level within castle walls on a very narrow pedestrian only street. The walls are several feet thick rock, and there are 2 stone arches in the ceiling. Most of the ceiling and part of the walls are covered with thich white plaster. At one corner is a huge jacuzzi tub, and the other end a clear glass walled large shower with a large comfy bed in between and 2 rock sinks. Also little fridge and coffee maker. Extrenely cool remodel! Loved the room!!! Didn't meet the host, but he was very nice and helpful. Suggested Tratorria Da Toti and it was good. We also had a more expensive but very good dinner at Castello. Both a few minute walk from the room. You can park free in the limited car area on the mountain, (no vouxcher, etc needed) but still a walk and stairs to the room. The walk below the fortification walls to the sea in a profusion of early June wildflowers was fabulous!

Wifi was out for the whole area, and our phones only worked outside (thick stone walls!) Didn't matter. Loved the room and Castelsardo! The Inquisition museum was excellent--ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING! Even worse than the Holocaust in that it was more personally sadistic and intentionally as individually cruel and painful as possible. More gruesome detail than I'd known before. The Spanish Inquisition on Sardignia lasted from 1492 to 1720! 228 years!!! Only one person needed to say you were suspect. You didn't know who ratted on you or what they said you did. You could confess or be tortured until you confessed. Innocence was never an option. Attractive young women were often targets if they "attracted attention or envy". I'm so sorry there probably isn't a Hell for those Inquisitors to rot in forever!

We had a problem with the accomodations we booked originally and the host was quick in helping us and offered us another place.

We originally booked the loft but had to move to another of the owners accomodations since there was not hot water and we could not use the jacuzzi. The loft is nicely decorated, clean and on a good location, but it had a super strong smell of mold and humidity when we arrived and the bed covers were actually damp with humidity (which makes some sense since the room is a ground floor cave and the jacuzzi is not on a separate room, but still it was quite annoying) We had to put both air conditioner and a dehumidifier at maximum drying power and leave the house for a few hours in order to be able to breathe. When we came back, there was not hot water nor in the shower or in the jacuzzi, and there was also a really strong smell of gas that we could smell from the street and scared us quite a lot. When we initially contacted the host though phone calls and whatssaps messages we had no reply. Eventually, when we wrote him though booking we could contact him and he arranged a change of location. The second location was also clean, well located and nicely decorated. Jacuzzi, hot water and rest of facilities were working properly, but it was inconvenient for us to have to change places at midnight since we were flying very early next day. I don't think I would rent the loft again in my next stay in Castelsardo, and, while the place is not totally unrecomendable, I would warn another travellers about the humidity and mold smell and advice them to check that everything is working properly as soon as they arrive in order to avoid uncomfortable surprised such as we have.

The loft is located in the old neighbourhoods of the Castle. Close to all historical sites and good restaurants. The appartement is very cosy and romantic and has a great sober design. Perfect escape for two !
