Casa Vacanze L’Ulivo

The property was beautiful and spacious. It was clean, well taken care of, and the owner was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns that we had during our stay. The owner did not speak a lot of English but she and I communicated really well on WhatsApp with the use of a translation app. It also helped that my husband speaks Italian, but honestly, she and I did a lot of communicating on our own. She was absolutely lovely, responded very quickly to messages, came by daily to empty our garbage, do a wash of the floor, or provide extra towels. On her day off she even offered to show us the historic downtown, and she recommended her sister’s restaurant, which is in the historic centre. It’s called Traverna Santa Maria de Domno, and it was amazing! In the apartment the A/C worked great and it was a welcome relief in the 30 degree Celsius heat. It had a lovely patio with a beautiful, large, olive tree, and a trellis with jasmine vines growing all along it. They created shade and a calm, relaxed, feeling. There were many other large, potted, plants that I wish I could grow here at home! There is a view of the ocean from the patio and there is a free beach only a two minute walk away. I choose this property specifically for the patio and it’s proximity to the beach. It did not disappoint. We couldn’t have been happier. Even though there is boat storage, and a walking path directly between the patio and the ocean we found both to be quiet with little foot traffic. If the bathroom window was open we could hear some road noise in front of the property but otherwise we didn’t notice. We were easily able to take a bus from the train station, there were restaurants, cafes, bars, and grocery stores all within a few minutes of walking. There were also a couple of paid beaches within a 10 minute walk. We were really happy here and would definitely stay here again.

We used the kitchen and could have used an electric kettle, a couple of food storage containers, and we weren’t able to find a lid for the pot. The shower drained really slowly, and we did have a large bug in our room one day, but the owner came immediately to check both those problems. The shower continued to drain slowly, but we were able to adapt to that, and we only saw a bug on the one day. No bug sightings the next two days 😀
