The Crown of Cookham

The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was superb and very generous portions.

Bookings.com did not forward my question to them and this caused an initial problem which the pub staff did their very best to sort out.

Staff were all polite and friendly. We received a warm welcome and they really tried to sort out a couple of issues for us. The bed was comfortable. Towels were soft and a good size. There was a nice choice of breakfast options and portion size was generous.

Room 1 looked tired and had a number of maintenance issues (some of which have been mentioned in other reviews but sadly not sorted). The toilet seat moves and needs fixing. It’s almost impossible to keep the shower head from falling down as you shower. The window frame is broken and the window won’t open. The carpet is really shabby. The bed is definitely not a large double as stated in the details.

Great location, with plenty of Free parking, Nice bar and restaurant with a good selection of meals. The rooms are in a small courtyard, just away from the bar, so noise is not a problem. Wifi works well, the rooms are a good size and are clean. The staff are very helpful. Recommended.

Parking could be more secure.

We have stayed at the Crown a couple of times and it really is an excellent place to stay, great accommodation, very friendly staff, we ate in one night and two mornings we had breakfast, both excellent. We will always stay at the Crown when we are in the area

A really lovely location. Rooms are tastefully decorated. There is parking.

Rooms were dirty. Mould in shower. Cobwebs in bathroom. One room had empty cans of drink and used bedding and towels. Rooms are very hot, some rooms had no window openings. On arrival on a Saturday afternoon for a 3pm check-in the pub garden had a live singer which was set up right next to the rooms. Not ideal when you've had a long journey and planned to rest before an evening event. I don't know if this is regular entertainment but the music was loud enough to feel the speaker bass in your internal organs! It would have been nice to have been warned in advance at least. WiFi signal and mobile signal are awful. To get any privacy from the chefs cooking the BBQ the full length blinds need to be drawn meaning the room is dark on a sunny day. I know there a room lights but it would have been good to relax on the bed in daylight without an audience.

This place is a gem!! Super clean, comfy rooms, lovely surroundings and things to do. Amazing food and wonderful lovely staff. Will definitely be back soon.

There is nothing to not like. We loved it here.
