The house is huge! The hosts are a very warm family who live next door (not too close) and used to live in what's now this large house. Whoever is responsible for the organization of the housekeeping has thought of everything. They provided a welcome basket with lots of fruit and a bottle of red wine. It's a nice touch that we appreciated at the end of our stay when we'd run out of groceries.. We were there in December and they were still in the process of fitting electric heating so we just used the burner, which worked well for the immediate living room and helped a bit for the room we slept in above it due to the pipe, but the house was cold. The hosts are extremely efficient, so I'm sure they will resolve this minor problem before next winter. In Summer, this must be a palace and deserve 10 for everything. The garden very big too and we loved that the house was dog friendly and didn't charge extra. Price very reasonable, even for winter.

This is a tastefully decorated country house, with a very well equipped kitchen, a terrace to sit for breakfast, lunch, sundowner and dinner overlooking a well maintained landscaped large garden. Ample private parking space right in front of the house. The house offers total privacy yet the host is in the house 200 years away if needed. Host speaks fluent English, communications very easy by WhatsApp and in person. We were greeted with a welcome bottle of wine, bread and fruit eggs and milk, then some home grown fruits and beef tomatoes were delivered in the week. It was just simply good, feels like home immediately, and we knew we would miss it when we left. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful house and space. Stunning views over the river, valleys and hills, superb sunset every day. Stay there as long as you can afford, you won't regret it. We really enjoyed eating the local produce from the bakery and pingo doce, drinking Dao wines. Wifi is good for remote working.

Don't get put off by the narrow (a large car can fit fine, it's just feels a bit narrow at first) road that leads to the house, a truly beautiful space awaits you. There are flies and mosquitoes as part of nature, so use a good insects repellent shower gel or spray or roll on and you will enjoy the place fully, or close the windows before dusks.
