Le Douit Farm Self Catering

Beautiful bit of village life location. The church bell does toll every quarter hour and the hour, all through the night, but we found it charming. Lots of bird song, quiet, except the planes( which we didn’t mind). Shops walkable distance near by. Laundry facilities. Butter, milk and gauche left as gift from owners.

The central heating system suddenly came on alone,and a radiator started banging very loudly at 05.40 am at the weekend. We had to drive to locate the main reception, as it was the housekeepers day off, to report the problem. Note steep steps up to property, which we were not informed of. Shower pressure is fierce, toilet flush very poor( embarrassing). Windows in kitchen need a window cleaner! Buy your own toilet roll. Little to no hospitality from owners, they are not interested in you.

The apartment was warm and cosy and in an ideal spot. There was a local shop up the road for essentials and I loved hearing the church bells ring.

I like the location as in the area and the country

The home was rated as top class. Obviously ratings in Guernsey do not match ratings in the UK. I had booked this for our 40th wedding anniversary as due to health issues we know it will be our last. The steps going up to the property are dangerous, in the wet you slip, there was no handrail at the very top so we had to balance against slates that cut my husbands hand. The most shocking thing was that you cannot have any heating on. They control the heating when they feel it is cold enough. There was an amazing bathroom, this was outstanding for space but my husband could not access it because it was tiled making it even colder when there was no heating available. The sofas were both collapsed at one end, My husband slept well in the double bed but the single the mattress was not long enough so you kept using the pillows. We had such high expectations from the photos but were so disappointed. The kitchen had so many pots pans and utensils there was only a low cupboard to store groceries which is not suitable for older visitors. Guernsey is beautiful though and brought back many memories for us. Just wish the hosts had been more pleasant not barking at us on the one occasion we saw them.

Only small outdoor table right next to car parking and our neighbours. Surprisingly small for the price.

Really lovely, comfortable accommodation perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful island. The kitchen had everything we needed, the apartment was clean and fresh feeling and it was really nice to have access to some outdoor space for the kids to run around in too. We will visit again and would highly recommend it.
